okay bought some new lights for kitchen they come with three GU10 halogens, not really bright enough and the set is called a spot light set and think that is more the issue as too many dark areas poorly lit. 50W is the max you can buy in GU10, have done a bit of googling and seems can get GU10 in Flood (50 degree angle being widest) and also some high power versions, still 50w though. Anyone replace their halogens ? Am thinking the floods will better light the room. http://www.lightbulbs-direct.com/categor...w&sort=desc

They will mate.
Take a football pitch for example. My local team has 14 lights around the pitch (Not flood) and the quality of lighting is okay. Our nearest rivals have a floodlight in each corner (So four) and their lighting is 10 times better than ours.

You should be able to get up to 68degree lamps (might only be low voltage though hmm) after that there's not much you can do without more lights
You generally need quite a lot of spot lights for a kitchen as its a working surface, you will end up with dark patches, a pendant light will give a better spread but at only 60watt max won't give enough out

Just been on the sylvania website and they make one with 50degree angle but is 75watts, presume this is too much for the fitting you have bought tho?
And DO NOT BUY LOW ENERGY LAMPS
seeing as you already have low light, whatever they claim it won't give the same output, beam will generally be more concentrated aswell

thanks Adam, have ordered a set of Sylvania 50Watt 50degree Floods, so will see if that is a better spread. Yep all these low energy bulbs are just so poor, really affects my eyes. Upon googling I actually found Osrams do GU10 which are good bulbs for cars too.
