Hey all, Happy Christmas

Not very happy for me, ABS light and handbrake light came on yesterday and turns out that my ABS module has gone kapput!!! Nice. Ford wanted £750 to replace it and I think by the looks of my face they must have realised how shocked I looked. Managed to get it done for £520 in the end but can't believe how expensive it is!
Any ideas what makes this things break in the first place?

bloody hell mate did you try a scrappy first ???

I did briefly phone around but because its Christmas and I am going away, I did not have too much time. I did not feel happy in leaving it not working, not risking our lives for a few hundred quid.
Still taken aback by the prices of these things.
