Im not on here much but some of you might have seen I had my car for sale
the other month, I decided now to keep it for now anyway as I already have spent a lot of time on it and it turns out I can't always rely on my work car. I did think about getting something faster but got so fed up off such high insurance premiums I just think its not worth it.

So a couple of questions

My ST seriously needs lowering, I have ordered some 35mm lowering springs, I want to try do it myself to keep costs down, the back looks relatively easy to do but I'm a bit worried about the front, any tips? I have looked on the how to section but I'm still a bit confused on it.
Plus do you really need a spring compressor or is it possible to do it without?

Second can you fit a decat to a standard system or do you need a cat back also?

Thinking about cams to, it could deffiently do with that extra punch!

I have also ordered a vibra tech engine mount, I had one on my old gti and it made the throttle response so much better so hopefully it will do the same with the fiesta.

Thanks for any help

pleasant suprise mate, well it's unfortunate you didn't sell but at the same time i guess welcome back you made the right choice!

Get the springs done in the garage mate save the hassle of it going wrong it's a straight forward job should take no longer then an hour if there's not hic-ups.

i stand by this if you are going to get an exhaust.

get either half or the full system don't mess around with individual bits because it rely on the other parts to give out the performance figures.

i suggest you get a milltek manifold and a sports cat, De-cats are illegal how ever i dont frown upon them but its too much hassle getting it off and back on again for an MOT get a sports cat and you will never need to take it off.

your need to cut the cat off the system and re-attach the sports cat too the old cat back pipe by sliding it in the sports cat piping and clamping it.

same performance!

save for both and your get some performance gains to get the full package your need a back cat and a back box.

Cams are well worth the money spent with a Map i recommend them for any fiesta St owner.

As Stason said.

I will repeat though *DO NOT DO FRONT SPRINGS WITHOUT COMPRESSORS*.

Thanks mate, I could have sold it, had a few offers but I will keep it for now.
Still might give the springs a go myself though, or even just do the back and pay for the front, if it saves me 100 quid then I think its worth it, plus I like learning how to do these things so if anyone knows if I could do it without spring clamps that would be great.

I will look into exhausts, I have seen a group A cat back rally exhaust from Germany, tempted to get it, would be nice to have something a little different.

I don't mind spending a bit for some mods but I want to try to do as much as I can by myself so I don't loose to much money in the end, I think cams and a map could deffiently be on the cards.

i have never used them, just kept the shock in the arch, put a jack under it and undo the top nut, then lower the jack down it releases the spring slowly and if it did slip off the jack it will only hit the inner wheel arch, but not had one slip yet and i have lowered 7 cars this way, soon to be 8 on saturday then 9 next week

where you have keen experience someone else might not and i don't really want to advise someone on the internet though who may not have as much experience or hands on knowledge and advantages such as your self.

I don't want to be known for advising someone and they loose a finger or worse still never post again because they have a spring impaled up their nose

Be safe, then sorry
