Does anybody take out track day insurance? What do you pay?
If anyone can recommend an insurer for a 23y/o male driving a Fiesta ST that would be great.
Would just be for 1 or 2 days on Croft or maybe Ford Fair.

i dont bother if im honest
the cheapest quote i got for ford fair last year was £173
the cheapest i got for brands hatch was £183
however if you are insured with greenlight they do it for £50 and double your excess no questions asked

I'm not sure track day insurance is worth it. It's expensive and they usually have a very high excess anyway so if something does happen you still have to shell out quite a bit. Add that to possible maintenance costs (oil, tires and other little things) and it can be an expensive day out. If you go to a well organised track day you won't have to worry. You are not racing at a track day (I'm not even sure they time you), so just allow faster cars past and keep a good distance from other cars. Track days are more just to allow you to drive your car on a track within your comfort zone and your own pace. People are generally very well behaved and won't race you or put you in a situation of danger. There are marshals there as well to make sure everyone is having a good safe time. I did a day at Oulton park and was worried about insurance but I was getting silly quotes so said screw it and went for it. It was an absolute blast and at no point did I come close to having an accident. Just be sensible and you'll be fine. Most people there are in the same boat driving much more expensive cars.

thats the problem with track insurance as ST07 said... most cover the minimum
for £173 it would cover any cost of the track for recovery and any injuries...
i would still have a wrecked car and if i was to come together with someone else they would be left with a damaged car so not much point if you ask me

Got a quote of £75 from towergate.co.uk.
This Cover is for on event accidental damage and covers: - The cost of parts - Repairs to parts - Fabrication - Specialist Labour - Engine & Transmission (due to impact damage) This cover does not include routine dismantling and reassembly, or engine and transmission due to mechanical failure. Fire cover is for fire as a consequence of an impact with an object other than the surface of the road.

Edit: Done some reading at it seems you are accepting liability for your own car regardless of who is at fault so your insurance covers you and you alone. 3rd party is expected to cover their own damage. Quote:
What happens if someone crashes into you tho, and theyre not insured? Be very hard to prove fault at the end of the day, and if you dont have insurance either wouldnt it be a case of you both pay for your own damage despite them being at fault? Also, can you take your car on track if you dont own it, ie. loan?

If someone crashes into you, you are liable for your own car
Wouldn't go on track without insurance, although a cheap car I would What insurance is the RSOC Kenny?
