i'm just about ready to upgrade my front and rear brakes with mondeo front calipers and st170 discs all round. the only thing i'm short of is the metal dust shields.

what is the general opinion on these, do people fit them or just leave the standard fiesta ones on?

They fit the focus st170 dust shields mate as the fiestas don't fit think you need st170 carriers for the rear aswel

You don't need dust shields.

For the rears you need to uprate the carrier but not the calliper. Fit ST170 Discs and keep normal fez pads. Apparently though the rears are not worth the upgrade...

What is the difference between the Focus ST170 and Focus RS Mk1 rear brake setup?

I have just been looking at discs and I see the following:

Focus ST170

Diameter: 280mm
Thickness: 10mm
Total Thickness: 33mm

Focus RS Mk1

Diameter: 280mm
Thickness: 10mm
Total Thickness: 42.5mm

As you can see, the total thickness (meaning the thickness of the disc at the centre including the part that touches the hub) is thicker on the RS Mk1 than the ST170.

I thought the ST170 and RS Mk1 were the same?

Yeah, I always thought they were the same too. Yesterday I was playing around on EuroCarParts and it was throwing up two different part numbers at different prices. At first I thought ECP were just screwing over Focus RS drivers as these were slightly dearer but then I looked on ebay and found these details for a few different sets of discs from different sellers.

Presumably it is a different carrier then as the pads are the same as far as I can tell.

Hopefully somebody in the know will be able to update us.
