oh no, if you ever drive past portsdown hill qinetiq site, if the radars are on (i.e. spinning round) turn up your radio and everytime the radar is facing you you will here a zapping sound out the radio. It causes huuuugee amounts of interference and cos the alarms are looking for changes in currents within circuits they are sensitive to this kind of interference and it sets them off.

Now dont quote me on this (as i said before these are educated guesses as i really dont know ) but i very much doubt the alarm is pressure sensitive. As the car is not a sealed system, and so the pressure on the outside of the car has to be the same inside the car, breaking a window will not change anything and motion does not affect the pressure inside.

It also locks itself after about 1 min and sets the alarm. (if left unlocked)

No it only locks itself if you unlock it, and then dont open any doors or anything. It you get out the car and leave it it will not lock itself.

The alarm is almost pointless anyway because it is so quite. Usual euro complaint bollocks which defeats the object of an alarm.

By pressing the lock button once it sets the anti theft alarm system but the only thing that will cause that to go off is actually opening the doors, boot or bonnet. There are pressure pads in the doors, boot and bonnet. They used to be little black cones but I'm not sure what they look like now. The atmosferic alarm is then set by pressing the lock button twice. My old Zetec S had the same thing.

I though the alarm is set on 1 or 2 presses of the lock button.

If pressed twice the deadlocks are set.

There is an alarm set when pressed once but it will only be triggered if a door, boot or bonnet is opened. The atmosferic sensors are activated when the lock button is plipped twice as is the dead locking. Thats how I understand it from the dealers, and also from trying to set the alarm off on my car.

Snap! Last Sunday night I was out, and we was talking about the alarm, and I went to demonstrate it by opening the boot and like you nothing happenned. I tried it about three times and nothing at all. Thinking back I must have already opened the doors before the first time. But it was so embarrassing! I was like its not just quiet now its damned silent!!

I've just went outside now and it did go off so at least I know it still works now, but tried again straight away and it didn't go off so there must be a time delay of some sort.

The Anti Theft Alarm System (when you plip the button once) takes about 10 seconds to activate, then open a door and it should go off. Not sure about the atmosferic alarm system but I would imagine that it is the same.

The alarm does not go off if you open the boot with the key. (If thats what you were trying to do?) Sit in the car, lock the door using the remote control (press once) wait ten seconds or there about then open a door and it should go off. Thats if Ford havent changed the alarm system from what is used to be!!
