Quite recently a few threads have been popping up concerning cleaning/detailing and general upkeep of cars and there really isn't a place to put these threads, I'm not sure how much attention it would get but it would still nice for people qwho wanted to know more about products etc

I think this would be great, we could do separate posts for cleaning, drying, claying, polishing, waxing, products to use, best practices ect. Lets make this happen

Well there will be plenty of people who will have great tips for detailing & hopefully we can review cleaning/detailing products

Firstly, I would like to apologise in the delay in replying to this thread. Thank you all for the comments, and I know a few poeple are going to be disappointed, but after discussions amongst the team we've decided not to go ahead with this.

If people want to show their tips for removing swirl marks and claying, and other cleaning/detailing advice advice etc, then please PM one of us a we will put it into the 'How To' section.

Then their final result pics can go into 'The Forecourt' explaining the products used.

I know a few regulars have taken a shine to the idea, but it was felt that by opening a new section for cleaning your car it would just open it up for repeated threads.

Thanks
The Team

As i said to Adam - I'm happy to add a section on ST-RS and you guys can link back to it but want to keep FFST down to a minimum. It works well that way and always been a key guideline to how we run the site.

Fair enough, a well organised post would probably meet everyones needs in the same way, just need someone to be prepared to try and keep it tidy

Can I comment? - Too late

A Cleaning and detailing area would be good, however there are obviously going to be a few draw backs (for example me having to negotiate ANOTHER section!! jeeezzzzz) but I think it would be useful to many polish avoiders.

There is a chance of a few repeated threads but surely this is a good thing? They won't be repeated forever and will fade out with new content being brought in, but it will get the area going (everyone knows to avoid the dead area! 'Mines on order' for example ).

I have just got the bug of detailing, after claying my car and slding stuff down my bonnet as it is now smoother than smooth GLASS!!! (like cloths and pads...not babies and engine oil...) and would like some more info on what to do and techniques etc like how to remove swirls, without having to sign up and troll other sites.

I think also, instead of a new area entirely, maybe a sub area inside the Forcourt? As it is generally going to be lots of pictures of various states of paintwork.

Also, I know there are not THAT many people (compared to other sites) into detailing that would lead to such an increase of demand on the server.

I know I am late but thought I'd just post up and show some support

(P.s I also know you said no already - It didn't say no forever though hehe)

Plus I really don't like the layout!
