Hi, I'm getting my ST mountuned in June but I'm having trouble deciding which to go for, I'm leaning towards the 185 as my driving is mostly on A roads to and from work but I have a few concerns from reading the other thread by igotnobrakes. With the 185, how does it handle slow traffic (some days I can be sitting in stop start traffic for 10 mins or so, mostly low gear 1st/2nd). At the moment with my standard ST it can steadily pick up (I don't mean flooring it) from 1200rpm in 1st/2nd/3rd with no problems, how does the 185 cope as I know torque lower down the rev range is lower than that of a normal ST? I guess I'm asking if during normal driving does it become more of a chore to drive? Cheers.

185 across the revs is very smooth, a great deal moreso than I was expecting, it picks up in low gears easily without fuss just not as quick as 165. The only issue is, slowing down in gear, it will grumble far earlier and want a change down or a declutch sooner than standard/165. For your example this would be bit tiresome, you would set off in 1st, into 2nd and if the traffic immediately slowed again and your almost up the bumper then 2nd would be grumbling and wanting a declutch because you have only travelled a few yards. Pretty mutch all cars do this anyway, just need to adapt to the conditions and let gaps open up so you can get the revs up and allow more time to declutch. Didn't bother me too much when in stop/start queues, just trickled off and freewheeled a little bit out of gear or knock it out of gear just before it grumbles prior to coming to a stop. As I say, it's like any car that you leave in gear too long as your slowing and it wants to stall unless you change down, a cammed car just does it sooner. I think you would be okay with it, but definitely not for busy city centres on a regular basis.

Depends on your driving style mate, could always do one stage at a time lol. As I do alot of crappy rush hour driving I did like the 165 more, but even mountune said my 185 was very lumpy.

not a bad fitting price then when the 185 kit is advertised at nearly £1900!
