This is bull****.

If it was a DUI or a speeding offence they might have a leg to stand on, I've just run a quote with the same details but with the points and it goes up by £100, this is stupid. I'm a good driver and I've proved it for years but I'm still getting ****ing raped all the time.

If there's no way round this could I pay the charge then cancel? They'd have to refund most of the years worth of premium because I paid in full.. What a **** end to my day.

It does seem a lot just for three points for that. My guess is that what they've done is quoted what it would cost if you were taking insurance out NOW with those details, and given insurance is going through the roof at the minute that's the difference between what you paid when the policy was taken out and what it would be now plus admin fees.

Three points for an offence I received when I wasn't in the car. May as well have sped through a 20 zone outside a busy school.. would have worked out the same, this is ridiculous. Not going to be able to afford it.

This seems crazy.

Run a quote off of Compare the market with the PC30 included and see what the cheapest is then mate. If it's alot cheaper, ring Admiral and cancel the policy without adding the PC30.

I've already admitted to them I've got it because I rang up to be honest about it, so doubt I can cancel it without the PC30 being added first. They've made a note on my policy already.

Insurance figures aren't the same as what they were when I insured in Novemeber so it wouldn't be an accurate representation but I get what you're saying.

Think I'm ****ed tbh. Feel like I'm being robbed. After years of careful driving I'm still allowed to be treated like a chump. May just have to stump up the fee then cancel my policy and take my car off the road till I can find a decent quote from someone else. Gunna get some quotes from specialist companies like flux that I never tried tomorrow.

there's no way they can charge that you don't even get stung that bad for speeding.. i'm 24 i've got a 2k claim for malicious damage from 2010 and 3 points for speeding and my insurance is about the same price as yours. if they mess you about, cancel it get a refund and go elsewhere they obviously think they can charge what they like as you have paid for the year

try compare the market mate, you might be lucky and get a cheaper quote than you were paying anyway?
No point getting too upset about it, clearly they're taking the p*ss and you're only being honest so worthwhile seeing it through

Confused is coming back with quotes of about £1500 which would make Admirals 480 quid daylight robbery attempt about right for insurance at this moment in time, which is bad news.

I live in a low risk area with no other convictions or accidents etc, this is unreal. I know Sheffield in general is a higher risk area but come on. Really looking like I might be boned here.

Best option may be to plead with the English call centre at Admiral and see what they can do.

EDIT: Compare the market comes back the cheapest at £1400, which is Elephant one of Admirals sister companies. Still high though.

I've just done one of skyinsurances quick quotes online though and they're offering £1000. Obviously it will go up a bit as all the details get a bit more precise but that's still a hell of a lot better than anyone else has managed.

£480? How old are you? If thats what Admiral are offering you after declaring the points I would take that straight away. I had a partial fault claim in 2008 which is still biting me in the arse now, I'm 23, have 3 years no claims, live in a low risk postcode area and still can't get my insurance below a grand.

If the claim wasn't there, it would be £600.

It wasn't even my fault - the insurance company decided it was 50/50 because there were no witnesses as to what had actually happened.

No mate they want an extra 480 quid on top of the £1100 I've paid in full already.

Tell them to shove their insurance policy up their arse and cancel it, take the £50 hit for cancelling a policy and go elsewhere, try adrian flux
