is there a common problems on a pre-facelift or facelift ST?

obviously the dash is different and trip computer along with facelift lights... but physical difference and the feeling of the car?

should drive the same, but is there anything i should pay attention to...

I think all of the parts are changeable. I always preffered the facelift but there are some per facelifts for very cheap so I'm tempted to get one

Much prefer the facelift front and rear lights, plus the dashboard is nicer too

Was part of the engine internals not upgraded with the facelift? valve springs or something possibly? unless I just dreamt that

Think something is done yeah, but I don't know what either.
What's the difference with the rear lights? I didn't know there was one!

Interior on the facelift is a lot nicer. Better looking dashboard and radio area. Just generally a nicer place to be.

Pre-facelift might need ECU updating to sort out any starting issues.

Facelift is generally ok

I think the front and back lights on the pre-facelift is nicest.
Never had any problems with my 05 pre facelift ST. exept that the esp light sometimes get stuck. So you can't turn the esp back on, but that is very rare(1 or 2 times a year.) and if you shutdown the engine and start again it works again.

I've always found the facelifted ones to be much nicer inside and the head/tail lights are more modern too.

all personal taste really. i prefer the exterior on facelift but the interior of the pre facelift. Only thing which bothered me about choosing a pre facelift was not having the dash screen for all the readouts. But at the time, of all the ST's id looked at the one in best condition was a pre facelift so i went for that. I never run my petrol low etc so some of the computer functions wouldve been wasted on me anyway.

after owning both!

i still wish i had the pre facelift, i don't like the rear lights on the facelift they are too fiddly...

the dash was better on the pre but the dials are better on the facelift

my pre facelift obviously wasn't as fast as mine now but it shore could have been as Kreaper has the only pre facelift MR200 there is and his easily keeps up so no difference with the power

so nothing to worry aout engine wise really... i was more worried about the mechanical things that may appear from the pre-facelifts rather then a faelift which may have recived revised parts...

well seeing as you've had both... guess they are both similar in the way they are and how they drive...

would a ford dealer make me pay to see if it needed the latest software update?

no, do it as part of the deal when you buy it

If you get it serviced at ford, iirc they HAVE to do it

Pre-facelifts can be a bitch from cold, the early ones need an ecu update unless you like kangaroos
