Hey, i'm currently thinking about my boot build for my .

I'm basically transfering everything over from my Mk3 Fiesta, which basically includes a good speaker & a hefty subwoofer system, overall from both four channel amps the amount of wattage in RMS will be 716.

It runs very well in my car now, but when the car is still, it does tend to do a little bit of jerking!

I'm just wondering if it's a good idea to get a power cap and if so, what fad?

Also if i get one, which amp should i connect it to, the subwoofer one?

Haven't we discussed this already? From what i looked at you need something as you are stressing the alternator and such in your car. Its not really meant to have that kind of load running off it. For people that aren't too familiar with rms, 716 watts is huuuuuuge Anyway, from the other ICE forums i had a quick squiz at, they suggest by far and away the best thing for your car is to upgrade the battery and alternator, a diesel battery if possible (didnt know they were diff) and prob upgrade the cables, possibly add a second battery but thats quite weighty ontop of all your other equipment.

The second option is a power cap, now apparently, if you get the wrong farad and its power powerful it will go boom in a big way! So if you got a big system i say no less than a farad. Feed it from the amp that is drawing the most current.

This is such a high level system that i would not really go on any advice from here, go to the shop, say exactly what you are putting in and they will advice what you need. But i am pretty sure with a system like that, anything electrical that goes wrong you will have to fork out for repairs cos they sure will blame it!

Your telling me, i've tried halfords for lots of things, and they seem to tell me different things each time!

They once told me your amp should have more power than what it is powering. i.e. BLOW MY SPEAKERS UP

I bet they wouldn't take the blame if you followed their advice and they went BANG though!

haha actually they are right your amp should have a higher rating than your speakers. A general rule of thumbs with amps (good ones anyway) if you go past 12 o'clock its clipping. And clipping signal can cause the voice coil to heat up and damage the speaker. So when you have a more powerful amp, yes it has the capability to blow the speakers, but you should never be turning it up that high anyway, but also the amp wont be clipping at the levels the speakers can handle and so wont also ruin your speakers.

Not really, if you set up all your amps in the back, set them correctly and then you can leave them. You should no the limits of your system really, for a start you can hear it distorting the cone and thats the time to turn it down. And like with a sub, once you've gone past distortion levels, the louder it goes the less bass you get as the cone cannot respond to the wave. If you've spent that much money on your system, you should def get it right and def know the limits, and not to exceed them, cos as you say at those levels it can do damage!

But i thought i might aswell go all out and then i bought kappa's instead, they sound perfect btw!
