Cutting costs maybe as it's a front wheel drive?

Yeah, that's what I thought but some people in here seem to think a rear one is more use on a FWD car? Goodness knows.

Does anyone do an uprated front ARB?

it is needed on a front wheel drive car, the focus has one standard on all models

they didn't fit one to the fiesta as it doesn't need one as it doesn't have independent rear suspension

Am I the only one that actually feels more comfortable driving FWD cars? Everyone praises RWD but I think they are tail happy and crap in the snow!
I saw 3 BMW's stuck, my bro and dad mercs stuck and I come along in my Fiesta like pahahahaha

I agree to an extent. Admittedly, all other things being equal,a FWD car will not be as quick as a RWD in the dry and you can't do amazing powerslides if that's your thing.

But for quick road use and for the normal person having a bit of fun chucking it around roundabouts and what not, the FWD feels a lot safer and easier to save when you're about to bin it.

On my focus the rear ARB upgrade made such an improvement it was unreal. The reason people upgrade the rear on a fwd car is because it reduces the roll at the rear and by keeping that under control less weight will be transfered to the front wheels thus reducing understeer.

Manufacturers have a thicker roll bar on the front as standard to improve traction as if you were to boot it on a bummpy road with a thin bar (or none) the wheels would just try to bounce alot as theres nothing there to 'push' them back down, meaning less time in contact with the ground and therefore less traction.

Thats the way I described it in my motorsport course and was told its a pretty good summary.

Your not alone mate, everyone wants to do rwd these days so they can drift and I just don't see the appeal of going sideways making loads of smoke and as you say they're utterly uselss in the snow. A few of my mates want them s14's but they all struggle to control FWD so they have no hope with some 300hp+ rwd machine.
