Hi, might be a bit of a stupid question, but my coolant needs topping up a bit, but the stuff I have in there is an dark orange/brownish colour.

I have some Unipart stuff I had for my MK5 Fiesta, would this be suitable? It's a fluorescent pink colour. Is this ok to mix? Thanks!

I believe if it is brown...changed it

Cold engine
Lid off bottle
Pull a pipe off the radiator and let it drain
Pipe back on
Fill up
Squeeze top radiator hose
Fill up just over max
Leave lid off
Start engine
Engine warmed up after a while
Make sure coolant doesn't drop
When you are sure all air is out
Lid on + engine off.
Done.

Yeah, the fluid you have in was probably that flourescent pink colour long long ago. No harm in a change anyway whilst we have all this nice warm weather and then you'll be ready for when winter rolls back in.

The car is an 08 plate if that makes any difference. I will top it up for now and look at changing it soon. The coolant is OAT whatever that means

as said when its brown it time for it to be changed!

Quick bump to this, I'm thinking of buying some coolant this weekend from EuroCarParts, only stuff I can find on their site is the following:

Genuine Ford Super Plus Premium Antifreeze 5 Litres - £17.02. That will do the job.

No rear tints but distinctive custom blue side stripes
