Right, we've got stickers and the flyers are on the way now, maybe it's time we started a new section which sells the stickers and provides the link for the different types of flyers.

Just an idea, what's peoples thoughts?

It seems like its not really possible. But i definately think the page about ordering stickers should be simplified, if i was in 2 minds whether to get some i'd look at that page, get a bit confused and think, oh i wont bother!

Also, its not really worth having a shop just for stickers and with disappointing sticker sales its unlikely any other site branded stuff will ever be made

As crofty said we've had quite a talk about this, we have the lot section on the forum, and to be fair the 'shop' would only have one thing for sale, the stickers, so would seem a bit bare But i do agree with crofty the sticker thread needs to be overly simplifed, and when i get a few mins i shall look to sort that out, with croftys approval of course!

The idea was to experiment with the sticker's and see the sales as we wanted to get some shirts made the the site but at the current time with the lack of interest the idea just wouldn't work and the costs would be far too much.

The stickers are literally at cost price with cashing of cheques, posting the letters not included, we do that in our spare time.

The shop idea would not work at the current time but maybe in the future we if there was more interest we could make this work.

ChrisC's new instructions are much clearer, i hope they help to drive the sales of stickers, we just need to make sure we keep slipping them into conversations so they don't get forgotten about!

I was in two minds about the stickers at first but I am now really glad I have put them in - I have 4 in total! Even with the priv glass you can see them (has to be a clean window and be sunny) but they look really good. Come on people for £2.29 theyre a bargain. Get raiding that piggy bank!

I have two on the rear window, just above the wiper and just below the hi level brake light, and the other two are on the rear side windows. If you look at my section in the forecourt you may be able to see them. They don't tend to come out too well on photos because of the priv glass.

Yep they do look great in your car wherever you choose to put them. They are excellent quailty and you won't find stickers of this type cheaper anywhere!

I agree...they look the muts nuts. They're the right size to go anywhere without looking too overpowering or too big. ST_GTR_06 you've seen mine now...so go buy some!!!

It's not all about hard sale.

Me and the Mods spent quite a bit of time finding the best looking stickers in the best colour possible and had prototypes printed to make sure they were the standard and quality we wanted. They were so we put in an order of 100 stickers which was over £100...

This money was paid upfront and there is no profit to be made, so all that we are trying to do is get back some of the cash which is slowly happening.

To get off this point though,

If people order the stickers it's always nice to think they are ordering because they like the site and would like to have the stickers in their cars (which look very smart) and support the club that they are apart of. I also think that when people have site stickers in their cars (any site) it gives the car a little more being, rather than just being another car, its apart of something... shows the owner loves the car and takes care of it.

but you do still need to sell them.... you call it hard selling but its just a case of reminding people they are available and persuading them. You know that once people get them they will be pleased anyway!

Ok you said that a shop page would only sale stickers why only stickers? You could sell Jumpers, T-Shirts, Hats and all kinds of other items. Could even have a traders section where you could there gear with the discounts they are giving on this site (if they let you). The other thing is that at places like Ford Fair and Fiesta in the Park you could sell the stuff there to. Just a suggestion

That really is a great idea, in theory, and we have looked into it previously, but it just isnt viable. We run this site with our own time and our own money. So when buying something we have to risk our own hard earned cash in the hope that it sells. And usually with that sort of stuff you have to buy lots. Plus we would want it high quality and to look good. It would just be a complete nightmare, and all being pretty busy people we just wouldn't have the time.

If this was a paid membership site then maybe it would be different. And you never know maybe sometime in the future someone will come up with a good way of doing this, but for now its just not feasible. But as i say, it is a good idea

why not just for ideas making some different type of design for clothes like T shirt or other then see who would like to order one, when u got approx numbers of order go to the shop or what ever u call it then ask how much it would cost to do produce with the numbers of people order! then after u know the price and if order still want to order then ask to be pay before doing then! therefore won't have to advance the money!

Yes but in doing all of that, someone is going to have to sort out all the designs, ring round lots of people trying to get quotes, having test ones done, quality tested, and then work out how we are going to deliver them, where to store them. Even posting them, that then becomes more of a hassle as its not just a case of popping them in an envelope and in the post box, each one of these then becomes a parcel.

It may not sound like much effort to you, but trust me, it takes a lot, and when you have a full time job, just moderating the board is hard sometimes, let alone adding in stuff like that. Maybe some of the other mods may feel they could squeeze it in, but i know they are just as busy as me usually so its unlikely this is going to happen for the moment.

Ok fair enuf it would be good tho maybe sometime in the future maybe. Thats another question how come you are one of few that dont charge ppl for membership?

Well for a start we have a very generous admin (hugh) who doesn't post on the board anymore but he still keeps an eye on things from time to time. He pays for the server costs out of his own pocket and doesn't want an paid membership type thing to repay back the costs. And thats whats helped made the site what it is, a totally free, open forum for anyone and everyone to use. Also means you get a wide range of views which helps keep things balanced.

What us admins and mods do, is purely for the love of the site, plus the car, which is the whole reason why we joined in the first place. Certainly when i first joined over 2 years ago (eeek!!) the site had only really just started growing, so having watched it, and helped it, grow to what it is today thats why we are happy to help keep it a free and open forum. Cos obviously that formula works
