Hello Folks,
I’m Mac, 25 – ST Owner.
After lurking on this forum since I purchased my ST in January I thought I should probably clamber out from under my bridge and introduce myself.
I purchased my ST in January. It’s the first car I have ever purchased myself. I was driving a ridiculously old Vauxhall Astra Arctic Estate that I inherited off my father -- it was the equivalent of driving a bus with half the cast of fat camp on board – so taking the ST for a test drive was like a dream. Anyway, I fell in love with the car and became the proud owner of blue 07 ST with 49,000 miles on the clock.
Anyway, on Sunday I crashed it.
I made the rather poor decision to perform a 3 point turn at a level crossing. The gentleman in a huge Hyundai was over taking the queue . . . bang into my driver door. Anyway, I’m now the proud owner of a blue 07 ST with 54,000 miles on the clock and a caved in driver door! I have just been to the garage and have been informed that I will need a new door. Luckily I have found one in blue (big thanks to all the young ST chaps and chapets who have written off ST’s in the last few months) that’s in perfect condition. I hope to see my car back to normal by the end of next week.
All this drama has made me realize something. I really love my ST. I was sleepwalking last night (I never sleepwalk) because I was so emotionally battered at seeing my little car in such a state. I have therefore come to the conclusion that my car deserves a treat. I’m going to upgrade/modify the living heck out of it!

I should probably confess that I know nothing about cars. I struggle to change a bulb so doing any work myself is out of the question. However, I’m sure with the help and advice of the good people of this forum I can sort it. I have a friend who is a mechanic and I know a good body shop.
*Turn left down Fishergate in Preston and look for the red door – say Mr. Happy sent you – she will do things . . . Oh wait, sorry wrong body shop*
Anyway, I’m going to stop typing shortly. Like I said I want to make my car look great and also tune up the engine, etc. However, I have no idea where to start. At the moment everything is standard. I’m thinking that the first port of call should be the wheels? I quite fancy some black alloys. (Jack p’s look awesome). Any thoughts? I do quite a lot of motorway miles at the moment (80 a day) so any modifications that have a drastic impact on fuel consumption are out of the question. Anyway, money is not much of a problem so throw the ole’ ideas at me.
All the best,
Mac
