Went to an open day yesterday with a friend of mine to a place called ikustoms who also had a wax company come along to show off their products. Seen alot from these two companies on instagram and was keen to see the stuff in action. Theyre quite big on the VAG scene and they have a stand today on at DC12 which a friends car was on it, which i didnt know about till a couple of days ago! Small world eh! Anyway, this guy called Michael was showing us the way they have designed their products to basically to have as little contact as possible. The conventional way i would wash a car is to snowfoam it, rinse off then with a bucket of shampoo, wash the car. He pointed out with his stuff is that you snowfoam first, rinse off and then using the same principle as you would with snowfoam, is to spray on the shampoo and using a mitt with only water on it, is to then wash it off. Never struck me before but thats quite a good way of doing it. One point he made is how much products can change their ability when re-acting with other chemicals. So when he said about mixing up shampoo, which is a ph neutral product, to anyways use de-ionised water, as it doesnt contain any chlorine or fluorine, which in turn can turn it into a more alkiline product. At this point it's going to sound a bit extreme. But ( and i wish i had taken more photos at this point ) was telling us this the cars that were being washed at the time were spotless, really was blown away by how good they were. One thing that struck me aswell is that the range is very shot and simple. I've done all the reseach over time finding the best ways to detail a car, that this took the time scale down by a country mile. It goes like this Snowfoam>wash>wax>detailing spray. Thats it! Couldn't believe it was this short, and upon asking him why he doesnt polish or anything, he said because it doesnt need it. So his test vehicle, which was a 2 yr old mk6 golf, he said he's never done any correction on it or polished it or whatever, Only waxed. So he freely let us have a go with this wax he had, to try out on his car. The stuff you can use on anything, paint and trim! As he was using it he was using an applicator and doing it by hand aswell. Also to note, when i wax im normally re-appling wax about 5 times onto a pad from the pot to do one side of a car. This stuff you only have to have one application of wax onto the applicator to cover one side. Unreal stuff! At the time when he was saying, there was this mint g60 rallye that had only been waxed. The bloke had actually at one point left the wax on for 3 days and when he came back to it it was still malleable like it had just left the pot, no drying out no nothing! He did actually have a specfic wax made for his colour code which was pretty handy! So yeah some photos. The van has had the same work done, and it was on air ride! g60 rallye by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr g60 rallye by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Two things i bought ( being a clever ttwat i had small change with me ) all of their stuff was £6 each which i thought was good. The wax is a little bit more at £40 but he said if you used the amount he used, once a month the wax would last 10 years Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Thats all, sorry for the mouthfall! Just thought i'd open up some eyes to different ways of doing things! Going to try these two out this week and see whats what Thanks for Reading.

interesting. I actually do spray wash on car all over, I just use some cheap wash, spray on all over, leave it to soften any muck then rinse off, then commence my usual two bucket method with my main wash. I use detailer quite often and only ever polish car once a year, rest is Collinite every few months and detailer often.

Kenny. Gonna give this stuff a try, going to get the wax on order and trial it and see what i Think i feel would be a better deeper shine. Did a 50/50 with the kleenfreaks detailer and autoglym rapid detailer and the kleenfreaks gave a deeper shine Just gotta get the wax and will do the lot like i was shown! Will put up the results then!

Okay so i tested out the new stuff the other day. The car didnt need a snowfoam as it was hardly dirty to start with so got on and filled up the shampoo in the karcher attachment, covered the car and washed it off with water as i was shown. Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Dried it all down then hit it with the Detailing spray to finish it off. For a car thats not had any polish or waxing in over two years the finish this stuff did compared to the rapid detailer from autoglym or quick detailer from meguiars, this stuff is on another level Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr

Oh and just on another note that i thought i had already mentioned. I got in contacted the Guy after trying out the Spray before i did the wash above saying how good it was compared to Autoglym rapid detailer. He mentioned that the detailing spray is silicone free ( says on the bottle ) but it actually contains wax also, so the more you put on the better finish you're going to get Really am very happy with the results, have got a couple more things planning to head my way at somepoint soon to try out!

for a car that has not had any polish etc,its come up fantastic imo, of course its not going to come up like as if you done a full detail but still looks fantastic
might have to try this stuff
Yeah will come up much better when i give it a proper going over, but for now its good to see what it can do on its own
Just gave it a whirl on my own car, had just finished up and the heavens opened

Got some new products from the brand earlier. Some acid free wheel cleaner. Seen this stuff use in the flesh and you wouldnt believe what it did to the wheels on this 150k mile passat, they were gleaming after! More detailing spray, running low And finally the wax. Giving it a go tomorrow when i finally polish my dads car, it needs it and this stuff is going to get put to the test!

Detail spray is normally used after waxing to help remove any wax oils/ residue that you missed when buffing off and some companies insist on using it after waxing as it apparently gives that bit of extra gloss
This basically, the detailing spray has a small amount of wax in it so basically the more layers you put on the deeper the shine
Quote:
How you getting on with these mate? still going strong?
Yes mate, my old boy has hardly driven it since then but its still gleaming. My car i washed today and the water ran straight off it with the jet wash before i had even washed it and it was bit dirty
Quote:
Did you use his brand of snow foam or your own?
I just have some snowfoam from cleanyourcar.co.uk but whats in the attachment is shampoo, i spray it on using that and then with a mit and clean water i wash it off
Quote:
Do you need the snow foam thing for the shampoo?
It's not a necessity, but i find after being shown to do it like that you're making less contact with the paintwork itself!

It went okay, paint came out good but was running out of daylight i'd like to try and go at it again, it was more of an experience as it was a different paint to work on. Those EP3's have some right flimsy bodywork though, both rear quarters doors were causing alot of vibration when i was rotaring!

so seriously Jack, what are we talking about to get you to do this on my car? how long do you need?
Sounds crazy but i'd like at least 6 hours plus just to take my time.
I was a bit rushed for time yesterday, i'd like to have gone back over it more as there was still some swirling to but shot of but sunlight was fading. Still it looks mint and the depth of the reflection is incredible now, I was happy and my mate was more than happy.
Still got a bit to do on his bonnet because at one point it had a carbon wrap and has made the laquer underneath all dull and horrible, managed to get alot more life back into it though

So made use of an empty garage this afternoon, gave my engine bay a bit of attention! Tbh, it's not something i spend alot of time over ( if anything nearly none at all ) and it was getting rather filthy, especially after the crappy winter we had! Whilst the bonnet was up i added in something i should have done after i bought it, 2 off rubber grommets to fit in the hole of the top mounts to stop any water coming in. Its only the off side that needs it but it would look odd if it didnt have it the other side! IMG_5556 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Went at it with some APC ( 4:1 ish ) and a couple of brushes then washed it off after and got as much water marks off as possible, i got at the majorly bad bits but still looks minging in the photo One thing i did do but not photo'd is clean the underside of the bonnet, that was proper filthy! I need to get hold of a decent engine dressing tbh, because with all the heat everything is so dry, but whilst i was there i tried out kleenfreaks ( yes i've been buying more ) trim dressing which you can use on any plastic, rubber or vinyl inside and out. It leaves a nice clean finish without looking shiney and greasy, in the photo below i've applied some to the loom cover and the rear cam cover to show the difference! IMG_5566 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Think i neeed a steam cleaner on the job tbh, anyone had experience in the past with them being okay to clean the bay with?

So yeah small update, not an awful lot with my car i've got a few products lined up to try out but i end up doing loads of projects and tinkering with stuff to keep myself busy so these get sidelined! I still didn't bother cleaning the engine bay, it's not an area that gets alot of attention and should really put more effort into it but tbh it's not got anything to showoff in it! Parked up mine next to a friends new mk7 ST recently, really does show it up and make my paint look dull! IMG_6837 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr My prep for ford fair.. IMG_6956 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Results in the rain... small beads are the best! IMG_7033 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Nothing else new really, only Katies evo which i had the pleasure of detailing! Pretty sure its the same colour as my dads l200 ( which i'm glad i got the practice in on ) except the paint on Katies EVO is a damn slight better than my dads car. Really pleased about how it came out i'm very happy Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr IMG_7021 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr IMG_7023 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr IMG_7027 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Then parked up next to my mates Evo X IMG_7029 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr

Going to a meet at silverstone next sunday, so as any opportunity for a car to look clean this was one of them! I would have been pushed for time next weekend so did all the major prep the last two days. Car needed a bit of light correction ( a bit more than expected ) and the end result was okay but i could have done with another go all round with a lighter cut just to get it a bit better but never mind. washed clayed and washed again to be sure all contaminants were off the car. Last time i clayed it was before trax so call it 6 months ago, it was pretty minging. Although we haven't had an icy winter i did go for long periods without washing it so it was to be a bit expected! Photo aftershot of roof, bonnet and one whole door! IMG_0229 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr IMG_0232 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr No photos of any correctional work, i wanted to leave it overnight with wax on to cure but didn't get the chance as i was off out. so this morning i was up bright and early, one layer of wax left it to cure in the shade for 2 hours then took it off. IMG_0248 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr Pleased with the finished result but my bumper is even worse for wear these days i was toying the idea of entering the novice concourse this year at ford fair but would mean i really should get it resprayed.....oh the decisions! ( oh and thats not swirling down the bottom i just hadn't removed the wax at the time! IMG_0247 by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr

New products to try out. The mitt is basically a clay bar in itself, larger area of spread will get the car done in no time at all it will take massive amounts off doing a full detail!! Untitled by Jack_Pearson, on Flickr

I don't like either of those AG products, not a patch on Auto Finesse imo Look in the Recommendations thread Tom
