When I open a another tab, I get this screen with lots of squares showing, sometimes shows text of previous sites I have been on, almost like small site pages.
First tab open is the forum, then when I open another I get this screen, I want either a blank screen or straight to Google.
I have cleared all cookies and history and content.

This screen is showing your 9 most favourite webpages the search bar is still at the top type google in there and all will be as normal

similar thing happend to mine, be careful what you search for hahhahaha

Top right of the tab page is a small grid, click and it'll stop showing fav sites

Was on the new update and told you all this on the page that 1st opened after the update

There's another way of doing it, a bit more technical.

Open Firefox - type in the address bar:

about:config

Continue through the "here be dragons" page.

Search for "newtab"

You'll have two options there:

browser.newtab.url
browser.newtabpage.enabled

My options (to open a blank page when you open a new tab):
browser.newtab.url - about:blank
browser.newtabpage.enabled - false

Restart firefox after changing those and it will just open a blank page rather than the top sites page. You could also change the newtab url to http://www.google.co.uk to open Google each time you open a new tab
