So I have been doing a lot of thinking recently. I am currently in line for an MR200 upgrade when the inlets do become available (would have been getting fitted this Monday if they were), however I keep thinking to myself 'should I do it, or just keep what I have now and upgrade my car in a year'. I have no intention to keep my fiesta for very long, probably 1 more year. Getting the MR200 kit fitted would cost me £1700 as I have the 165, and making the jump up to say a focus st for example in a years time should be possible for me. I also anticipate that with the new focus st coming out soon that prices on the current ones will also drop a bit. Who knows, maybe the focus RS prices will even drop some more by then. This is not to say I definitely want a focus, I'd explore all my options but those cars would definitely be on the list of potentials depending on prices.

So given my situation, what would you do? Keep the £1700 towards a car in the not so distant future or just get the MR200 and enjoy it for a year before selling? I do love the fiesta and the joy that the MR200 would bring, but I do want something a bit bigger and more comfortable. I know there has been a lot of debate on focus or fiesta recently and the majority of you say get the focus, but this is more of do I spend £1700 on the mr200 and enjoy it for a year or keep it and put it towards a better car in the future. The impulsive side of me says screw it get the mr200 and enjoy the s**t out of it for a year (and wish I had that £1700 when it comes to a new car next year) but my sensible side says don't do it! If I do go ahead with it, it would mean I will have spent £8600 on this car including the purchase price. Add a few thousand more to that and there are some pretty good focus ST's out there for that money.

P.S. My fezza is an 07 with 32,500 on the clock (in case that sways anyone's decision).

Oh and random interesting fact, insuring a standard focus ST or RS is not that much more than a fiesta ST MR200 for me...it was £130 more for the RS :S

It sounds like there wouldnt be much point in you going mr200 if you only wanna keep the car for a year. I'm going mr200 but thats because I'm keeping my car for as long as I can. I'd save the money to go towards your next car

If you are only gonna keep it a year there is little point in spending all that money mate!

I see a trend emerging here but thanks guys. You're all right and I wasn't expecting much else if I'm honest, guess I just needed a few other opinions to get my head straight. I'd love to keep the fezza as a track car or something but maybe that's a project for another time later in life. I said 1 year, that could turn into 2 but at the end of the day as you said Lee no point putting in all that money just to sell it shortly after. I'll put that £1700 aside then and see what the market has to offer next year. Need something a bit bigger and more comfy, usually get a work car for work related travel but if its last minute I use my car and after a 3 hour drive my legs and back are aching! Why there is no left foot rest I do not know! Trying to maintain 65-70mph over 3 hours is also torture on your right leg! Good times

I only clicked save your money because you want a bigger car.
Forget Focus, will cost you a fortune in running costs and it's only MR200 in performance terms, will cost you a grand for MP260 upgrade. Depends on your income and if you can save plenty, if so get MR200, you haven't spent much in the first place so not as much lost, my car was brand new and I only got about £900 from my trade in old RS1800.

sell now or forever hold your peice, the new Fez ST's will be out and will drop yours through the floor... i'm keeping mine and saving up for the foci mk2 RS instead... will keep both (if i can)
