Lee that could have only been possible if there is a point lower than where the air goes in, hence why you would have had water collect in there. But i can imagine you have alreay worked that out!

simple... put holes in the lowest parts of the pipes... it'll drain out

Yeah Ive moved them now I was just saying that obviously a lot of water gets in them. Obviously some comes back out (or not if you had them like I did) but how much gets all the way up?!
