Anyone know what the rules are on these bad boys. I really wanna get a decent private reg but dont know what im allowed. Forr example i saw the plate PE12 RRY but i would think this would be a plate for a 2012 car. I assume i cant put this on my 06 reg

You can have any reg you like as long as it doesn't make the car look newer, so for your 06 reg you can have 06 and older, even a 56 would be making it 6months newer

Dvla is always the cheapest way
They include the fees in their price whereas others dont

RT include the transfer fee too, click on the desired plate and it gives you the breakdown in price on the right

Yeah think you always have to get them made up, you'll be sent a certificate of ownership which is stamped and dated I can't remember exactly as have had mine for years now, I know you get new MOT, log book, tax disc all sent to you with new number plate on!!! If you sell cars you must put it on retention first because if the sale goes through with the number plate still attached it actually then becomes the new owners!!!!

I know it gets a right pain when you want to buy a new car luckily for me I live 20 mins from DVLA so take everything to them and they process it quicker think I had to pay about £120 to put it on retention then back onto the new car - just don't ever swap cars lol. Some people think private plates are posery waste of money, I love mine coz no one knows how old my car is ha ha
