Anyone know what the rules are on these bad boys. I really wanna get a decent private reg but dont know what im allowed. Forr example i saw the plate PE12 RRY but i would think this would be a plate for a 2012 car. I assume i cant put this on my 06 reg

You can have any reg you like as long as it doesn't make the car look newer, so for your 06 reg you can have 06 and older, even a 56 would be making it 6months newer

Dvla is always the cheapest way
They include the fees in their price whereas others dont

RT include the transfer fee too, click on the desired plate and it gives you the breakdown in price on the right

Yeah think you always have to get them made up, you'll be sent a certificate of ownership which is stamped and dated I can't remember exactly as have had mine for years now, I know you get new MOT, log book, tax disc all sent to you with new number plate on!!! If you sell cars you must put it on retention first because if the sale goes through with the number plate still attached it actually then becomes the new owners!!!!

I know it gets a right pain when you want to buy a new car luckily for me I live 20 mins from DVLA so take everything to them and they process it quicker think I had to pay about £120 to put it on retention then back onto the new car - just don't ever swap cars lol. Some people think private plates are posery waste of money, I love mine coz no one knows how old my car is ha ha

Won't be able to for much longer Chelle - the DVLA are closing all their regional offices, ie. all except the HQ in Swansea, next year:

That is included in the price fro DVLA and a couple of other sites but be warned... cheap price on other sites usually means additional costs!

Nah its alright. Its a personal thing anyway. Think its one of them each to there own. Wish i could get away with some "convenient" spacing though

you can, but you take a risk with the bacon and you'll have to swap them come MOT time.

Mine have been illegally spaced for years with no issue at all

Yeah it's personal but you don't want it to be miles out, otherwise it's embarassing when people ask you what it means. Perfect example was a guy at my last work, he honestly believed his plate said Johnny. It didn't, it spelt Joey... Very badly.

I not into jist initials as you have left over digita that dont read anything. I cant go for ST as im after a plate that i can keep forever and change onto a new car

Anyway u suggested blummin J11SHY lol
