I bought a couple off eBay (used Ford ones) that were sold as 60mm ones but were actually the smaller ones. Each went back for a full refund

What do we think? I got a reply.

"No sorry its not a genuine ford part, it is aftermarket. It has visteon stamped on the electrical component. Not sure if they made the part or just the chip. What is the address in UK. I will quote you a shipping cost. "

Isn't Visteon just the company that makes parts for Ford though?

Yeah, Visteon make some Ford parts. The standard 6006CD units are Visteon as are many of the interior trim pieces too. I wouldn't be too worried about it not being genuine Ford though, if it still does the same job?

ok so i've plugged in the laptop looking for fault codes.

one indicating the forced RPM limiter

The other is the ECU Beliving the Throttle is stuck open!

On Pumaspeed's website it mentions wiring colors and they should be changed for the 60mm Throttle body, But im unsure how to this without chopping up the Engine loom which im not to excited about doing.

Any ideas?

on a good note though it appears the electronics are the same, after i've had some baileys cheese cake im swapping them over, going to let the car warm up abit first... don't want it revving its nuts off cold.

it's a puma speed part so it should of worked no problem, trying to understand there website is the problem

May buy one from pumaspeed and then return it back saying it comes back with the fault code and send the bad one back, what do we think? bit naughty i know, but im sure its there throttle body in the first place

Last month I bought the following 60mm TB delivered to me here in Australia for a $110 clams and it works perfectly.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/60mm-1556...2392009371.html

Because 20% more air is pumped in it moves the torque band a tad higher in the RPM range.

The unbelievable statistic is the computer had my fuel consumption as low as 6 lts per 100klm at 90/95 klm per hour on a trip....... WTF, I had only ever got the car to 6.8 with the 55mm.

Now I have a question...... Is that plastic 'adjustment' screw actually adjustable because you know..... I broke the one on my standard 55mm.

I realize that after a few years with engine heat that plastic rubbish is going to be brittle.

After my near heart attack of breaking it I spend a few days contemplating how to fix and did so but that is another how to thread.

There was a guy on ebay offering machining services to enlarge the bore which is probably the best option for most people in the uk without forking out hundreds for a 60mm ford one.
That's what I did anyway.

there is a seller from the Canarias in Spain that are offering them for £149. Seems a bit strange if it is original when it is so much cheaper then the others, maybe they are the same as Hombre bought. Anybody know who makes the throttlebody? Visteon maybe? I think they are based in Spain.

I asked at my local Ford dealer in Norway. It was around 500£ for both the orignal or 60mm throttle body. So that is proper expensive.

Would be interesting if the "made in China" part actually works as normal in the long run. Then it would be a very good buy for the money.

@ Oyvind....... Yes I think I remember seeing Visteon stamped on the 60mm TB itself, I will take it off again soon to double check for you.

Im looking at the commercial invoice that came with the package and there is nothing on it that says
Visteon.

How's this, The actual price for the TB on the invoice is US$30..... Now that is astonishing considering Fraud down the road quoted me AUD$300 for the 55mm and AUD$600 for the 60mm.

Anyway, since no-one here seems to know about the Idle adjustment screw, I'm going to buy another one and see if I can work it loose without cracking it to pieces like my 55mm but I also think that years of heat made the plastic adjustment screw very brittle ??
Stupid idea in my opinion.

After I broke the screw on the 55mm I removed the plastic cover with the 4 torx screws in it and was not surprised to find some black plastic bits left over but was very surprised to see the 'simplicity' of the TB workings under that cover.

Anyway, What I want to do is increase the Idle RPM to around 850-900. It currently sits at 730-740.
The mechanics workshop manual says 850 and the owners manual says 700 which is far too low, especially with the modifications I'v done and I just think the engine would appreciate the increase and make my take off a tad smoother.

Cheers Guys, thanks for reading.
