Do you have a towing license Scott?

No one does that passed after 1997 unless they took the test. I'm waiting on news about my Shogun and then i'm going to get a Trailer licence

Good idea that, i always thought that was the best way to get a car there That way if the tyres and fluids are knackered it just goes on the trailer and you dont have to worry about it till you home

I can enjoy it a little bit more knowing it only has to do the length of the ring and then back on a trailer... not having to worry about limping it home.

Time will tell.

i have looked into getting a trailer for the mondeo.

i can tow up to 750kg on my standard lisence, but if the trailer weighs more than 750kg your ok if the combined weight of the car and trailer is under 3500kg your ok

so the mondeo being 1500kg, the fiesta being 1100kg and the trailer weighing 500kg max, its under the limit

You also have to take into account people, luggage and extra wheels etc you have. All adds weight.

They can take you to a weighbridge, I have seen it happen.

I thought the ruling for people who have a recent license can only drive a combined weight of 3500Kgs but a trailer must not weigh more than 750Kgs?

Dan - I wouldn't fancy towing 1600Kgs with a 1500Kg car lol

You will find the mondeo is closer to 2tonnes, pretty sure its not the weight of the vehicle but the max weight of the vehicle that applies

If you passed your test after January 1, 1997 and before the January 19, 2013 you are able to drive a vehicle that weighs up to 3,500kg towing a trailer of up to 750kg, bringing total weight allowed to 4,250kg. You may also tow a trailer over 750kg as long as the weight of the trailer is no more than the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, up to a combined weight of 3,500kg.

The combination doesn't work your fiesta plus trailer needs to weigh less than the empty mondeo

Finding stuff comflicting this though, would probably need to make a phone call to find out the exact rules
