I've got an elbow to put on the 2nd 02 sensor so it doesnt pick up the fumes as much, should make it go off

Hmm, exactly the setup I had! My light was caused by wiring that had melted on one of the sensors though so a new sensor or further sensor related investigation may sort it.

However, I had an Evolution Chips remap and it got rid of the light for good and the car ran well

To be fair, people may not be joining because they get all their info for free - so there's no need.

Just a thought

Remap was £350 mate

Evolution Chips is a custom map - the guys that did it for me knew about my problem and deliberately found and deleted the relevant file that was causing the error

Mine is on at the moment and i'm thinking of trying one of these off ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAMBDA-O2-OXYG...=item27cb05bc40

Not sure if it will work, but i'll give it a go.

Information i've gathered from other sources which you may find useful:

- It is the 2nd lambda sensor causing the light to come on.

- The 2nd lambda sensor simply detects whether the emissions have fallen by enough when compared to the 1st lambda sensor to indicate that the cat is working correctly.

- As such, it is just a diagnostics sensor and it has no bareing on air/fuel ratios or anything else engine running related. This is different from the 1st lambda sensor which does control these things.

- You can't just remove or leave the sensor picking up clean air otherwise it detects this and gives a "no activity" type code with the light back on.

- The sensing occurs over a period of time, so its not a sudden reading, hence why it can take a hundred+ miles for it to change.

- Some people have used the spacers i've linked to in the above ebay link to good effect, but only on other cars (Civics are one). As Jack said above, they work by holding the sensor further away from the bad emissions so the sensor picks up less.

Not sure whether the spacer would work for definite on a Fiesta ST.

The pumaspeed part (if the same as the one for the Fiesta ST) works in a different way though hence why it is more expensive. The pumaspeed one connects between the wiring and the sensor and has a resistor in it which makes it appear as though the sensor is outputting the correct signal even when it isn't.

For completeness, i'll add that another alternative for making the light go off is a unit that looks very similar to the spacer I posted a link to above but it has a very small catylytic converter built in so that it processes the bad emissions and makes them good for the sensor. Only seen a couple of these for sale though, they seem hard to find.

Stew are you sure it can be a straight fitting and not needing an elbowed version?
Only reason i ask is because i need one and the guy who fitted mine said get an 9deg elbow instead as it will stigk out to far and not fit.

No, i'm not sure. It's a good point Jack. I probably should have added that I don't even know if it will fit.

I just found the ones which looked the best made on ebay. From what I can gather, some people have had problems with the sensor not getting enough fumes which will cause the light also hence why I thought a 90degree one might not work. Hmm....might have to get under the car and see how much room there is unless anyone has a photo?

Its just what the guy from work who put mine on told me. Another guy, his mrs runs a decat system which he said he has the elbown on and its never come on

Found this picture of stasons Sportcat which is same as mine, looks as if it goes out upwards and to the right ( if you're looking from the rear )atleast the elbow will send it off sideways and not into the floorpan!

Just found a photo of a decat pipe, it appears it goes straight up so i can imagine you will need an elbow instead!

The latter is me, hehe. Found any decent elbow ones? I would quite like a stainless one so it doesn't corrode and get stuck.
