First of all I’ll introduce myself..My name is Steven and I’m from sunny Doncaster but live and work in Wilmslow Cheshire through the week.. I’ve had my Fiesta ST (frozen white facelift) for about 5 months and loving the car very much especially on the commute to work. I’ve all ready spent allot of hard earned cash on mods, wheels refurbished and spayed, K&N 57i, red stuff brake pads, Mtec Drilled grooved brake discs front and rear, Hel brake lines, smooth rear wiper, Magnecor ignition leads, Denso iridium plugs and new badges all round...The funny thing is I’ve never modified any of my previous cars before but feel the is something special and finding this to be a new hobby. I had the Mountune 165 kit fitted last week.. slap face as the current K&N on the car is brand new.... my commute to work has many hills so you certainly feel the difference in torque with the 165. I need to take the car back to the garage as I’m getting a strange resonated sound from the front area whenever the cars is reversing which doesn't sounds right apart from that it’s spot on. Steven

Welcome along mate sounds like youve made a great start with the mods Quote:

This is nothing to worry about, i had exactly same issue and it was sorted very simply.
Whats happening is when you put the car in reverse the engine moves ever so slightly which due to the changed manifold can cause it to touch on the heat shield and make it vibrate.
All that mountune did for me was bend the heat shield slightly away from the manifold so that when i do reverse its clear of it and problem solved

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone I’ll show pics soon!! Thanks for the advice Liam much appreciated, I had my suspicions it was heat shield related. Unfortunately Mountune HQ is a little too far for me to travel so had the kit fitted at my local Ford..looking at what others have paid on the site I think I was slightly overcharged ???

Hi, welcome to the site mate im Mountune 200, had 185 before it but never had the 165, feel like i missed out, but i did have pretty much a 165 equivalent modified fiesta ST before this one Liams problem is something i had on my old car when i fitted the manifold the ford garage probably didnt think of it but im surprised that they didnt do it on yours Liam when the cars cold you should be able to get your hand down the back of the engine and pull the heat shield away a little, make sure the engine hasnt been on for ages and the manifold will be very very hot very quickly and the ST was made to be modded, pretty much everyone mods it even if its only some stripes or wheels there are not many fully standard ones on the road have fun and if you want any help on any little jobs let me know i have taken mine and quite a few peoples cars on here apart in the past

No idea Dan but when I took it back in they guessed at it pretty mc straight away so maybe something they forgot.
Least it's an easy fix

Your local garage should be able to do it for you still cant remember off the top of my head what i paid exactly, think it was around the £1600 mark doing it with HQ
I was quoted £1600 for parts and labour over the phone and was assured it would be no more. When I went to pick up the car from the garage I had a nasty shock
After speaking with the mechanic and doing all the formalities I was presented with the invoice..as I glanced over the paperwork the numbers did not make sense the final bill was £1832. I also had the power steering fluid changed as I was getting that whining noise every time I planted it in 1st this was £47... But still £1832 for the Mountune 165 and power steering fluid change

Did they quote you a price not including vat? Did you get a hard copy if original quote? Some of the lads on here who got there's fitted at other dealers will hopefully be able to supply a cost comparison for you

I did realise later it was priced around £1600 without the VAT, I think what confused me was after researching the MT165 kit the expected total price would be about £1600 with VAT and cheaper if you get it done at MT HQ in my experience I’ve never been quoted for goods without the VAT included or at least being made aware of this.. The Ford garage seemed a little hush hush regarding the Vat..I did challenge the final bill and asked why I was paying an extra £180. The guy at Ford never said anything about the VAT and just put in down to the kit taking longer to fit......I was also promised an extra MT badge as the garage changed the fitting date three times..again not a dickie bird.. I can remember taking the car to Ford because the engine management light came on. I asked how much the diagnostic test was..the woman on the service desk told me £67..I was expecting more..well she did not mention VAT and the final bill was £88..again the shocked face.. oooh the cheeky monkeys

This doesnt surprise me at all mate, genuine spare badges are rarer than rocking horse s*it unless someone debadges their car and sells it
