ROB IS THE STIG The South East Massive Registered: 21/05/06 Posts: 50824 Loc: Kent	This is not really a problem, more an irritation........ For example, if the email contains ROB IS THE STIG then delete it straight away? That should allow all other emails to come through but not the notifications for what you've posted? Do the emails have the username of who posted? _________________________

dontpannic Site Supporter Registered: 10/04/11 Posts: 3507 Loc: Orpington, SE London, UK	Because I have push email on my phone all newsletters go into my newsletters folder so that my phone isn't buzzing at all hours to let me know there's an email. I also do the same for Apple receipts and o2 bills, Forum emails, and spam. My newsletters one just filters any email with "Unsubscribe" or "stop receiving these emails" into the folder. Occasionally they get mis-labelled, but I check them manually once a week to be on the safe side. I don't really use any forum notifications any more, I only ever use Tapatalk _________________________

I'm using a Google Mail account (Google Apps) and have searched for FordFiestaST.co.uk - the last email I received from the site was on the 20th Feb. I've not changed any email settings either here or on Google since then. I'm thinking potentially DNS issues at the server end, if it can't find where the email should be sent to. Is your email account hosted on the same server, Chris? _________________________

Just to comment on this, I registered with the site with the same email address as I use now - it hasn't changed (in fact my email address hasn't changed for near on 8 years), and I don't get emails from the site any more. I haven't changed any settings on my profile, email account or anything like that. The last email I had from the site was the 20th February, and I received PM's all the way through April, May, and June. Are all those not receiving emails on GMail/Hotmail accounts at all? I'm wondering if the fordfiestast.co.uk domain has a correct SPF record? My domain is powered by Google Apps so uses the Google Mail framework... _________________________

If you're sending email directly from the server then hotmail and google need to know it's genuine. This is set up nowadays via an SPF record in DNS. Yahoo are more lenient in their domain checking whereas hotmail and google are right on it. Chris's email was bound to come through as its on the same domain. There's definitely an email delivery problem and so far by asking those affected it does seem to be Hotmail and Google accounts (either directly or indirectly, ntlworld and my own domain are Google Apps based sites and still use the Google mail infrastructure). Just using the tools at mxtoolbox.com, the site has no SPF records which is almost certainly causing this issue. _________________________

I've just tried redirecting the automated emails to come from my own FFST email acccount rather than the server one, and trying to get them to come through to my hotmail account but without any success. At least some of you seem to be getting them to come through now, so there has been an improvement for some even if not all. With regards to people not getting their accounts upgraded promptly enough... The payments all come through Scott so I don't get to see them. Normally Scott would approve them fairly quickly, but hasn't been on much recently due to moving. Because there's occasions when he won't be on straight away, there is a note on the payment page asking people to drop me a PM if they haven't had there account upgraded within 24 hours. I know this isn't ideal... but... put simply if I'm not aware that soemone has made payment then I'm not in a position to help out. I hope this explains things a little better. _________________________

If it's a case that they cannot register on the site, then there's no accounts in the queue of failed accounts on the server that have bounced and not managed to successfully register, so I can't find them that way. Otherwise, someone needs to give me some contact details for them please so I can try to help them register. _________________________

These issues are currently being addressed. The current software capability is very limited. With regards to posting in 5 minutes. The restriction of membership has meant this has been put in place on the majority of forum threads. Some forums are still read/write. Due to having to link membership it means this has to be done manually. This is something that is being addressed going forwards. I don't really understand the negative comment of "sinking ship". This site is always less active during the winter, as previously pointed out. People also move on and others arrive. This is how forums work. Input is always appreciated and will be discussed. _________________________
