hi guys, ive just upgraded my account on here after a few months looking through and getting some interesting ideas.

now, i have a question for you all,
im wanting to replace my centre silencer for a normal straight through pipe, reason being is that i like the origional sound of the ST but i want it to be a little louder and help the engine exhale better. ive been told that the milltek centre section pipe will not fit as it is designed to be used with the milltek cat back system which is much larger.

so, is there anyway i can get rid of the centre silencer without buying a cat back system?

also, what do you guys think about sportex exhausts, ive seen milltek, scorpion, piper and mountune mentioned quite a bit but not sportex, is this because they arent very good?

thanks in advance guys.

You could get some piping of the same diameter, cut out the silencer box and weld the pipe in its place.

ye, i suppose i could do that, there is a stainless steel cat back system on ebay with no centre silencer but they dont sell the centre section on its own, typical.

i would say custom would be the only way to go and maybe cheaper to, give your local powerflow dealer a call

ive been looking around and i was thinking, couldnt i just use another exhaust sleeve to connect the new centre pipe to my origional backbox?

i believe the new pipe already comes with a sleeve to attach it to the cat?

i personally wouldn't sleeve, i'd want to do a proper job but each to their own, you might be able to ....

I'll still have a word with him if you like?

I had a FULL Powerflow system, Flexi, Sports Cat and Cat back, on my '07 plate

When i traded it in for another, i took all the original pipes back to the Powerflow center to have it put back to standard, which they did, or so i thought.

When i got back home i noticed that i had forgotton to take the center box section and looking under the car there was no center box.

At the time my Wife also had an '07 plate that was totally stadard throughout .....

The moral of my post is this ..... The exhaust note was just the same, the centre box IS some sort of Baffler, but more of an expansion box.

It's the Back box that Silences the so my advice is don't go wasting money removing the center box, it will do nothing to the tone.

ok, thanks for the replys guys, i think im just gonna get the full cat-back section later then.

whats your opinions on the sportex exhausts, and whats the tone difference between those and say a milltek or scorpion or something like that?

the sound im wanting (if i decide to change) is like a rally car kind of sound, not a deep pounding bassy fart.

thanks again guys

Go miltek. Has a nice raspy rally sound. Stay away from sportex apparently cheap and nasty

I had sportex cat back on my corsa for a day. Was that crap I cut it all up cause I was peed off with it. Lost lots of power, sounded like a bean can, and not made very well :/

Dread to think what they're like for a st!
