I am looking into buying a new in performance blue. I have been trying to get some questions answered from my dealer, but my ford dealer has a reputation for being crap and keep trying to get me to buy one of the used one's they have in stock Was wondering how long it took anyone on here to get theirs. Also, when you put an order in for one,do you have to pay the deposit then?????

The only extras i want are power folding mirrors and auto wipers and lights - could i be cheeky and try and get these thrown in.

Would be grateful for any help and any further info you think could be useful to me. Never bought a new car before.

Delivery time depends on whether ford have one in stock in that spec. If they do it should be a matter of weeks, if not it will have to be built and could take up to three months. Again, the deposit will likely depend on your dealer but he will probably ask for one. As far as the options go, you might be able to get them thrown in for free or at least one of them. Just tell them that you have looked around elsewhere and somewhere else is offering you the car cheaper. Tell him if he adds the extras in for free you will do the deal there and then. Bear in mind too that the ST doesnt come with any mats as standard so you may want to ask for a set of those too. The best thing to do is play one garage off against the other. Have you looked into any other options on the car, as there are quite a few to choose from?

Spoke to one dealer today and they said that they would have to order from factory because of the extras.

I would like the side airbags etc and also the ESP, but they are so pricey I don’t think I’ll even mention those. I have been quoted £11,000 from applecars to include the power mirrors and auto wipers, but I don’t fancy buying online, too risky and want to be able to speak to somebody face to face if there are problems with the car not been delivered when it should be etc.

Good thinking – forgot it doesn’t come with mats. They are a necessity.

Would you go for the metallic paint or solid, really like the performance blue but i am falling for the colorado red one's now!!!!!

I would have to say blue but then I am biased cos thats the colour i have! Id also look around other dealers because they are bound to have a car with the two extras you want on it. THe list price for the reflex pack and the esp (which have to be ordered together) is £625. You may get a few pounds off it but im not sure. Ive got the esp and airbags and think its great (fortunately i cant comment on how good the airbags are!). I would defo go with the blue. And just keep looking around to see what prices you can get off another dealer. I too wouldnt be too keen to buy online either, but people do it so it must be safe enough. With regards to getting it from an online company, people have had mixed experiences, some good and some bad, though thats the same as with dealers. Ultimately its all down to personal preferance (mine was from a dealer) and you shouldn't do something that you're not keen on.

As Ben said, they probably will ask for a deposit, though if its anything like mine was won't be a lot - I only had to pay £100. Whether that was to do with the fact that the one I wanted was sitting there in the showroom I don't know; perhaps if I was ordering one to be built they might have asked for more.

I don't want to start another best colour debate, so I think the best advice that I can give here is to simply follow what your gut instinct or your heart is telling you on this.

You'll need the interior styling pack if you want the mats i think.

I bought mine online and i couldn't fault the firm, you can talk to someone as they're only on the other end of the phone, so i would recommend doing it that way if you can save a few bucks. Companies such as buyacar.co.uk and drivethedeal.com are pretty sound.

white IS the colour to go for!! u mite be lucky and get one sooner, depends on what u go for and with what options, mite have one in same spec ready for u.

If you can afford it go for the reflex pack and ESP.

I had to pay £1400 deposit at my dealer.

Mine was built to order and took about 7 weeks.

Well I have decided on a Colorado Red. Spoke to my dealer last night and he said I would need to pay a £200 deposit. Hoping to go in Saturday and order one as the guy said it would take about 12 weeks. Gonna try and blag some mats and maybe get the price down a bit coz I am going to be paying in cash.

Before you sign on the dotted, go round (or phone)as many dealers as you can and bounce the deals of each other.
You'll be very suprised at what you can acheive doing this, especially as it's the end of the month and you might fall on one salesman who needs just one more car for this months bonus.
It doesn't matter which dealer you purchase from, you still take it to your local one for servicing etc.

Thanks for the advice. Luckily, my fella is the same as you. He won't let me put an order in at the first one I go to . He will make me shop around. If it was left up to me, the salesman would probably get twice the market value of the car off me coz i am such an impatient person and really want an at whatever cost
