I've recently replaced mine. Also got off eBay for about 3 quid and it's not been a problem so far. Got mine in blue and it's nice and bright. Got 42-44 mm festoon. U will find the one thats already in there is abit smaller (36-38mm I think) but go for the bigger one and spread out the terminals slightly. That'll stop the bulb from spinning around as LEDs point their light in one direction and ur light will stay at its brightest. That's my opinion anyway.

I done exactly the same as this buy bigger than you need and bend the terminals slightly. Works like a dream and stops your bulb spinning the wrong way round. Done this for my number plate bulbs aswell

Yeah I changed all my lights apart from the indicators to LED....Nothing but scrotum ache for me.....

I used this LED for the interior light and when the light fades out after you shut the door the LED remains on but dim

All my lights are led except for main headlight bulbs and indicators and I've got no trouble with them at all

Interior/numberplate/front lights need to have CANBUS. Otherwise it will interrupt with your radio signal and maybe give a fault code (light code).

Allways take SMD leds and be sure it has a resistor and a heatsink (numberplate/interior)

Not sure about foreign markets but the UK Spec ST has no bulb warnings and the lighting circuits aren't CANBUS so buying CANBUS compatible bulbs make no difference. It's the resistor on these bulbs that make them 'compatible', not any circuitry inside them.

The reason the LED's stay on is due to residual charge in the fader unit of the GEM I believe. Normal filament bulbs draw a certain current, and discharge the fader in a certain way. Because LED bulbs draw much less current, it doesn't discharge the fader in the way it's expected. The resistor draws a similar amount of current to that of a regular bulb and therefore fades correctly

I’ve just had my MOT...The only advisory was the issue with the LEDs causing the dash to light up when the brake pedal is pressed.... which we have mentioned in another thread...

I did try fitting some resistors at the time I bought some indicator LEDs but still the same issue..My problem is the car looks so good with LEDs and having my dash light up...well I can live with it if I’m honest...
