...had their wisdom teeth removed?
I'm getting the first 2 of mine removed tomorrow morning.
I'm not looking forward to it at all.
I'm reading the pamphlet they gave me for after the removal of the teeth.

If this happens...if that happens... if this...

they didnt want to do all 4 cause I wouldnt be able to eat.
Normal way here is one side so you can eat the other side, then in a few weeks do the other side so the first side is healed enough to eat on that side.

Local anaesthetic...

Yes, and this is why I hate going to the dentist. and have an a phobia of needles.

Do you want to know the details on whats worse or not to look forward to or shall i not say as it may well make you less nervous or worried?

tell me what you want Stason.
Already talked to the surgeon about whats gonna happen, the pamphlet is pretty graphic in its explanation of what happens and what could happen after
plus i've seen pics online...

i had 4 teeth taken out

2 on the bottom row

2 on the top row

Two separate occasions separated by a week inbetween they were all adult teeth and reason why i had them taken out is because i have fairly larger teeth and not enough room on my jaw i had a brace afterwards to pull the teeth together.

so intitially they will inject you on either side of the jaw 4-5 times each

this is the most uncomfortable bit as the needle going into the gum is extremely uncomfortable, it's worse then having a jab on the arm as the gums are thicker and softer tissue underneathe.

you will experience a tingling sensation and somtimes the nerves will twitch when the needle enters, this is perfectly normal, my tongue moved about when he was injecting my gums.

afterwards you will go numb and this for me was the worst bit of the ordeal you dont feel a thing after it kicks in your face will go completely numb.

teeth being pulled out you will hear cracking when the dentist tugs but you dont feel anything just pressure where he is pulling. the only off putting thing was the sound.

Afterwards there will be a lot of blood they will put if i can remember like a bud of cotton wool to allow the blood to coagulate and clot to stop bleeding.

for the next 4-6 hours your face will still be numb and fairly uncomfortable from the effects of the anaesthetic. after it wears off you will get a throbbing pain from your gums just take paracetamol usually goes after two days.

To avoid infections i was told to swill tcp around in my mouth after cleaning my teeth for the first couple of days until fully healed.

out of the whole experience the only thing that made me faint hearted about it ie talking about it makes me go into shivers, is the injections its extremely uncomfortable.

I had all 4 of mine removed at hospital when I was a teenager. They were coming up under my other teeth on account of my small mouth.

They put me out for the op and I woke up after with cheeks looking like a hamster and unable to move my jaw for days. Had some cool bruises too. I remember having to swallow chips whole as I couldn't chew them, lol.

Enjoy!

I had 3 out last year. Went under, come too with a load of gauze in my mouth and felt ok Bit achey but otherwise good. I took 2 days off work to recover but prob could have gone back next day tbh

Suppose it takes different people in different ways One thing tho, they wont let you go unless you have a pee (at least here that is) but dont do what i did and down a big bottle of water when your wheeled back to the ward because it ended up all over my blanket 5 mins later and not thru the normal course

I had my top left removed, as the gum around my lower left wisdom tooth was becoming constantly swollen. Basically the top and bottom tooth were constantly squashing it, the lower one would never fully come through as a result of it. So strangely i had the top out as having the bottom tooth out could result in more complications etc.

I went in, had 3 injections, felt a bit of tugging and that was it. I was rather lucky by the sounds of things people get some serious pain by it, i had none at all and healed up fine

You'll be alright buddy

.....do you want me to post a photo of the tooth? I still have it under my pillow, the tooth fairy has gotta pick it up at somepoint

Have had teeth out before, not too bad but they were towards the front so less difficult.

Few whiskeys after will sort the pain

I've never had any teeth out so far (touch wood)!!

Although I was having pain with my wisdom teeth coming through last year so I went to the dentist and they referred me to the hospital to have them taken out...
But after reading the horror stories on the Internet I thought I'd leave it to see how it went, and so far the pain has not returned
