Bought my in february and noticed that whoever had it before me has terribly machined polished it, when the sun shines on my car you can see all the 'squiggly' lines, looks likes someone has been ice skating on the bloody thing! How can I get rid of these?

Ye, i sent a pm to Rsjohn and he said he would have a look first then depending how bad he should be able to buff them out with a good clean using the right stuff.

Trying to think of what "squiggly" means. Are you on about swirls in the paint? Kind of like a spider webbing effect on the paint?

Or are you on about lines in the paint thats been caused by someone with a machine polisher?

Or do you mean something like 'pig tails'. If it's those then those are DA marks either from the factory or a respray.

Ideally we would need to see some pic's.

Give it a wash then put a piccy up, will be easier to make a suggestion on process and product.

They're marks from a machine polisher not the standard swirl marks. Next time it's sunny I'll take a pic (could be a while with all this snow)

My old Zetec S was like that on the bonnet and rear 3/4 after it had supposedly been polished by the dealer I bought it from. They really just don't pay as much care and attention as they should do. A decent polisher in the right hands should get rid of that no problem.

That certainly does, that's in pretty poor shape

Yes that's holograming. As Jack said, needs another Machine polish properly

Yeah, buffer trails are just awful. This damage is mainly inflicted at the dealership as a quick prep for a sale by someone who has no idea how to use a machine polisher. They're not too hard to get rid of if you have a dual action polisher, or know someone with DA or rotary. You can correct by hand but it will take a bit of effort and time. If you want to go down that route, I'd highly recommend G-Techniq P1 and a German applicator pad as they're great for correcting by hand.
