Hey Guys,

Finally managed to get a few mods my car to a near enough point where I'm satisfied with it..almost. Funds are a bit short at the moment so the mods are on hold...as my girlfriend is a huge money sponge its kinda hard lol I'm sure some of you can relate

The most recent mod was a remap courtesy of AMD Essex that I got put on today..just got back now, was a loong day and a nice drive. Thought I would share my results and also put the question out there to anyone else who has had one and to throw up your results!!

So after much deliberation I decided on a AMD tune over the Bluefin Stage 2 map and PumaSpeed's own map they offer. I saw on here that apparently AMD manage to squeeze a bit more out compared to the others...thought I would put it to the test.

So i rolled up to AMD (1st every dyno experience) for a rolling road before the remap, having put through 3 full tanks of V-Power fuel in prep for this as recommended by AMD,I entered the garage with my current set up...

PIPERCROSS Induction kit
MILLTEK SPORT 4-1 Cosworth Manifold
MILLTEK DECAT
MILLTEK SPORT CAT BACK EXHAUST (non resonated)

Came out very disappointing i must say...

Power: 154.1 Hp
Torque: 139.9 lb/ft @4533 Rpm

We were all a bit miffed We put it down to the car running well below par even before the current modifications.

So AMD set to work on doing 'Their Thing'....4 Hours later...and exhausting myself on the magnetic darts in the waiting room...I was summoned into the garage for the final dyno and results!
Final reading came out as follows...

Power: 174.7 Hp
Torque: 154.4 lb/ft @5651 Rpm

Thats an increase of +20.6hp and +14.5 lb/ft of Torque. FANTASTIC!!
We were all surprised and I was quite relieved after the not too promising 1st run.
Don't know WHAT was going on with the 154.1 Hp that came out 1st time round but hey...AMD pulled it out the bag!

Now I don't know if the gains are HUGE or are what's expected for a run with my current mods but I'm happy with that!

Though he did leave me with a 'BUT' to dampen the day... my lower engine mount gear box has some play that will need to be seen to...now i have SOME idea what this is and after a brief explanation from him he reckons its about a £100 jobby...so this will be next on the list.

So that's me! Now running 174.7 Hp, very happy! Might put these Team Torquesteer mud flaps on tomorrow to celebrate!

Are these good gains?

What experiences/gains have you had?

Awesome gains for a N/A engine, however... I always wander if they fiddle with the results to make it look a bigger gain.

Also there is updates for the ecu from ford, of you don't have it you won't have the newer maps that they did.

It could be considered low when you also have the inlet manifold. Especially as You have the inlet manifold too, I maybe wrong.

Good results but woukd be interested to know what they did to fix it. Mine on similar nods made 173bhp and 163ftlb.

an increase of 20bhp after a remap......??? I'm a little sceptical of that, that's a huge difference, I assume you can feel a big change driving her now

good bit of work, obviously the parts werent working together beforehand which has been corrected

check out my project thread, i changed the engine gearbox link couple weekends ago. Its a very easy change over and should take about ten minutes if your confident. Cheap replacement is around £35 through euro car parts or you can go vibratechnics, which i did, for a higher quality replacement but that was around the £150 mark drop me a pm if u want other info

Very nice. But yeah, I'd like to see a second opinion.

I second what sxkopite said. Is that good enough? lol!

Simple way to see is to have a friend rev the engine up and down whilst you watch the engine. You'll see it twisting back and forth, if it moves too much then replace it, if not then don't replace it, up to you. Nothing will happen if you don't replace it except it will get worse until the point where the rubber bushes go completely and it starts knocking about.

Given that AMD have said that they think it's moving about too much, they're probably right. Not sure why you need a second opinion?

I can believe that map, once you get it all working together you'd be amazed at how much power you can get

Still need to get mine on the rollers

Stew...your opinion is sound! Got my mate side my side and mine has a little more movement your rite. There was also a little 'tap' sound when i was cruising at low speed that seemed to happen every time i engaged/disengaged the throttle, didn't really think anything of it as it was so faint, its been there since I bought the car (3 months or so now)
So we put it on a ramp today and had a proppa look.(and Liam.... thumbs up to your thread man...really helped, life saver) Turns out that where the bolt is, going into the gearbox, there is a little but of threading going on nothing to major, but the bolt was a wee bit loose...carefully tightened her up as much as I dared without wanting to cause more damage to the thread.
The movement has reduced a lot and the tapping has disappeared.
Makes me cringe to think that every time acceleration was happening, the wee sucker was wiggling around in there! especially as it was thrashed at AMD yesterday!
Going to give it another look over in a few weeks and see if its still snug and maybe give it a helicoil to better it.

I think I'm noticing it more than most though seeming as though my car was running complete CARP before I did have it.

But I really couldn't recommend it more Jack, best £300 I've spent on it so far!..Apart from my blue stripes that add 10bhp..OBVIOUSLY!!
