Ok I bought my Performance Blue ST without any stripes, with the intention of getting side stripes fitted.

However, all my local Ford dealers dont fit them, so I would have to travel for ages to get them fitted where they send the cars that need them.

Considering buying a set off ebay from stickerboy, although Im worried about fitting them myself.

Anyone give me any help/tips/reassurance?

Get a professional sign maker to fit them, i had stripes fitted to my mini cooper by a pro and they are perfect. it aint worth trying to do it yourself!

I bought them from Ford parts Dept for about £45.00 and then got a local graphix company to fit them, for £40.00.

So only for about £85 in total.

Not worth doing yourself as if they are not straight it will notice quite badly and look terrible.

dont do them yourself as you will be so mad when you cock it up. at least if someone else does it its not your responsibility to get it right, its theirs!

Like the others have said leave it to a pro.

Well mine went like this:

Set 1 bought from Ebay put them on nice and flat then I look at them and think they don’t look straight....I live with it for 4 weeks or so and order a new set from Ebay

I remove set 1 &get my other half to help me with set 2...we end up having a heated discussion whist putting on the drivers side one an error is made...I loose it pull it off throw it in the bin and give up again!!!!!

I order a 3rd set from Ebay and when they arrive my girlfriend says don’t think I am helping with them ...now they sit on the shelf till I find myself a graphics firm and get them put on correctly.......wish I had made my mind up when I ordered the car and had got them factory fitted......oh well

Guys does anyone know of anyone in the Surrey/Hampshire/Berkshire area that could put a set on for me?

You might like to try Crescent signs in Newbury. They are absolutely fantastic. Just ask Micky (when he's back from Cornwall) as they fitted his OTT stripes to his Zetec S. Made a really good job of it. I'm sure that they would fit them for you. Couldnt recommend them highly enough.

Are you guys using water and washing up liquid in a spray bottle to fit these strips?

washing up liquid! doesnt that eat away at the paint!!!!!!!

Guy's if your going to try and do something, it's easier if you know how to do it.

Get one of those spray mist bottles from the garden centre, pop into your local sign shop and blag/ buy an applicator (Pic posted of one i blagged).

Fill spray bottle with water and add tiny drop off washing up liquid. Make sure the car is really clean, use white spirit to clean where your sticking.

Spray the car with the mix in the bottle, making sure you leave a film of water.

Apply the stripes as carefully and gently as possible, the water allows you to remove and re apply till you are happy, remember to keep paint wet with water/washing up mix.

When you are happy with them, use the applicator to squeeze the water out, thus causing the adhesive to bound. Start in the middle and work out from there, the idead is to squeeze the water and any air out to avoid bubbles. once done, leave for a few hours then re apply polish to exposed paint areas, i.e where you wiped with white spirit.
