shoot me also if you like: but have the insurance not twigged that your the main driver not your dad/grandad? (unless they know) cos i'm sure they will find out somehow (especially if you have a bump "oh it just so happened i was driving the car today as a one off honest" and grill your ass. and also if you start to modfy it they will start to wonder. but if its the only way you can afford the insurance then you have to do it i guess. but wouldn't you rather be building up your own no claims? (although i think direct line give no claims to named drivers now). that reminds me. my insurance is up next month. bugger

Yep you're not allowed to be the main driver of the car and just a named driver.
