Hi all,

was giving the Fiesta its winter clean and wax and noticed 3 rust bubbles on the front wheel arch....

Is this common? Not sure why I ask all my other fords have rusted! just a little surprised on a 2008 car, Debating on what to about it.

I've heard of it before on the ST. Odd really as I thought they were galvanised.
Only cure for rust is cut it out and weld a new piece in. Or buy a replacement panel.
I wouldn't bother with a body shop. Just buy a good second panel from a scrappy and polish it up.

I had actually considered replacing the wing, not had the wheel off yet to look in the arch properly to see how bad it is. But if it is bubbling I know it is bad enough and like you mention likely needs cutting out!

I have not checked to see if the wings are bolt off like my previous car but I doubt it. Will have a proper inspection next weekend.

Sorry no photos folks could not really get it to show with the car being white, will have another go next weekend when inspecting.

Well I've decided to keep my ST. I was thinking of waxoiling it, but your post has made my mind up I think. Better get a shufty on before the shitty weather gets here

Looking at google images of wings, they look bolt on

The wings are bolted. The only rust I've seen on one of these was an 08 zs that had done 90k and spent its whole life in Scotland!

mine has some bubbles under the rear wing. and some rust on the frontwheel arches and some stonechips here and there.
Don't know how much salt they use on the road in the UK but here it's massive in the winter.
The car was bad under. So I sandblasted it and got an tectyl treatment.
Think any car will rust if it's not proper taken care of.

Agreed, i imagine its not been looked after. Its a leeds plate, my last car was from Scotland incidentally that had a touch rust. The St has just clicked over 31k.
