Hi and welcome.

How did you manage to knock the dealer for over £500?

I negotiated a price for the ST today from the local dealer in Cheltenham.

I showed him the quote from drivethedeal.com (£12,900 with metallic paint, interior pack, reflex pack and side stripes).

He said they should be able to match that when I order on Monday!!

Chris

How did you get on yesterday Chris. Did you speak to the Sales manager? I didn't get very far with him, just refused point blank to discuss deals.

I couldn't go down on Monday Scott, I got persuaded to go down the pub for after work drinks, i'm ashamed!

I spoke to the more junior guy, who after speaking to the sales manager said they should be able to match the £12900 from drivethedeal.

I've since found the st with the options I want at around £12600 from uknewcars.com, when he phoned me back he said that they probably couldn't match that low a price . I'm gonna be going down there later in the week (possibly saturday) i'll let you know how I get on then.

Chris

i went to the showroom for a price and i wanted 2 one for me and the father-in law was having one aswell gave me a price of £10,200 each , i work in the ford engine plant and someone said they were only paying £9930 so she gave me the salesmans name - i phoned him and he said he had forgot to include metallic on her price and it was a mistake

so i told him to make a mistake on my price he said he`d get back 2 me he phoned me back as long as i had the 2 they would honour £9930 as the price needless to say i was straight down there ordering 2

Ruddy 'ell, that's great!

Thing is on the privilege scheme the dealers still get the same markup on the cars as if they were selling them full retail. If they didn't then a privilege customer would be so far at the back of the queue he'd be out the door and halfway down the road. Thing is dealers know a good deal is being had so 99% of the time will refuse to deal, and will give you a pants trade in to boot. My friend found me a dealer who doesn't actually take the piss, which is why I'll be back on his door step in a couple of months time.

Could I ask which dealer you would recommend Hugh, thats not a huge distance to travel from Coventry to? Having trouble as dealers don't seem to be replying to my emails?

I use a chap down in Bicester. It's not a horrid journey from Cov (straight down the M40). If you're still interested let me know and I'll get you his details. He a great bloke and doesn't bullshit you.

You will be hard pushed to get someone to respond to emails though. Most are too busy to bother and probably won't take you all that seriously. By far and away the best deals ar to be had over the phone and face to face.
