i have a very weird problem...

when i start the car the computer is all over the place, the MPG and average speed reset every time i start the car, the mile-ometer and the stereo still keep their memory so its not a simple connection problem from the battery

also the clocks stall for a few seconds sometimes, the rev sits on the bottom for a few seconds before working, but this isnt every start up so i dont think its related as the other problem is every time i start the car

plus when i boot the car over 6000rpm i get a weird blip in power, normally 3rd gear, if i keep my foot down it keeps doing it then goes into limp mode, im gonna take the spark plugs and leads out at the weekend, but i cant imagine its them as they are mountune leads about 2 years old and the plugs have only done 10k, so im thinking the throttle body needs a clean again lol

anyone had any of these weird things? i just cannot be bothered to go out in the cold and wet and work on it!

Sounds like you may have a sticking remote switch on the steering column Dan, the one that you set a self diagnostic check. just a thought hmm

Dodgy earth by the sounds of things, most odd electrical problems can be traced back to that. Check the earth straps and earth points around the car, for the dash clocks I believe its in the drivers footwell but could be the one nearest the ECU.

Odd clock movements could be down to a bad battery.

My ST did this, every time the trip and mpg was reset, never found a fix for it. To be honest, I didn't really look for one though...
