is there any improvment having an aftermarket strut brace without uprating the suspension? i.e. having a strutbrace and standard suspension. is it worth while or no point?

Welllllllll.... kinda. If you really hammer it round corners or are a track day beast then yes you'll feel it. If, however, you tend to go round roundabouts not through them then all it does it make your engine bay look nice.
