Hi I plan to buy an ST very shortly, but was wondering if anyone knows if there's likely to be any changes made for 07 model year, presumably being manufactured by November?

Regards

My ford dealer said there might be a special edition coming out in mid 2007, Lowered, Black wheels and around 170 bhp mark, but he said they want another £1500 for it? don't know if this is true but imop £1500 for lowering and 20bhp isn't justified.

You could get a standard ST lowered and up to 170bhp for less than £1500.

I asked this very question before i ordered mine.

I'm told that there will be no more development of the current ST as the Mk7 is due in Nov-Dec '07, which will be brand new from the ground up.

There may be some minor cosmetics to the current ST but nothing to write Home about.

It would make sense that there would be no more changes to the current ST, or the look of the entire mk6 range for that matter, as it has been said a few times that the mk7 was destined for late 2007.

Like you just said it will be a whole new design once more. The only concept picture I've seen was this one ages back, which looks a bit like a small Focus (in the same way that the mk6 was the mk1 Focus's little brother):

I don't how long into the mk7 era it will be before another comes out, hopefully not nearly 3 years again though, maybe a year later like with the mk2 Focus at worst!

Possibly wishful thinking here but perhaps there was a little confusion in what the dealer has heard on the rumourmill and there will be a limited edition run sometime with the mk7, with a bigger engine, lowered etc. They could call it.... a Fiesta perhaps?

We went of a tour of the Ford factory here in South Africa and the one Ford guy kept on hinting there will be a model above the Mk6 Fiesta ST in 2007. He mentioned 170-180 bhp. He did not give any more info.

It would be brilliant in my opinion if Ford were end the mk6 era with a bang by bringing out a model above the . Logic would dictate that it would have to be the since it was already developed before they canned it. BUT.... I know from experience not to get my hopes up about this, after being gutted last time.

With Ford being in dire financial trouble at the moment, it's even less likely that they'll bring out a model above the Mk6 ST.

I think it would be too much of a gamble on their part spending development Money on an outgoing model just doesn't make sense!!!.

I'm hoping they pump any potential Money into the Mk7 & give us a great ST there instead.

I have heard rumours that there "may" be a ST+ for 20071/2 model year to answer the critisism that 150PS isn't enough compared to Renault/Peugeot etc.
It will NOT be anything like the RS was going to be though as development on that car was cancelled. It never even got a development/model code (ST is B257ST so it would have been B257RS, BTW there is a C307RS model code though in the system so watch this space regarding Focus RS)
Knowing Ford it will probably be 180PS as that is an easy Throttle body/cams and ECU change and some of the optional extras thrown in to make it seem more expensive - Leather/ESP/Rain Sensor/Power Folds etc. It may also just be a performance upgrade optional extra added to the current car.
I would buy one I think, depending on the price as it's no good it being too close to Focus ST as no-one will buy one.
The "ALL-NEW" Fiesta, which is all-new this time, is being developed by Mazda this time and is expected to be launched the middle of 2008, I would expect there to be an ST deriv. almost straight away.
Also rumours are rife that there will be a new Puma based on the new Fiesta platform as well as a new Capri on either the new Mondeo platform as AWD or the Mazda RX-8 platform as Rear wheel drive, if it's the latter, SOLD

I emailed a dealer about possible changes to the Fiesta range for 2007 and this is the response:

"I have been given your email and would like to let you know there has been
no news to us that any adjustments will be made to the fiesta ST, currently
the model year is a 2006.5 and ford have not issued any information that
would make us think there will be any changes, which is something they
usually do."

It makes sense to me that they wouldnt change the Fiesta range let alone the ST so soon after the mk6.5 has come out. There are lots of changes, internally, externally and mechanically that would have gone to waste. Something which I would have thought Ford could ill afford.

Well I spoke to Ford this week and they indicated there may be some changes for MY07 - but probably just paint and interior trim, so whether these will be good or bad you pay's your money...

The only thing's I would really like as option's are cruise control and the ludicrous price for ESP should be reduced by 2/3's...
