Ford Insure - named Driver = £1600 for 18k miles PNCB

If i was 21 then the insurance would be £1121 damn it >.<

Scotty those companies:

a) are the same!
b) are hopeless unless you are collecting your giro!

Give these people a try, and start with Direct Line.
Also, whilst I'm here, why are you saying 18k miles to them? They only ask for an estimate (it's not a commitment) and unless you say less than 7k miles they don't make you sign a mileage limitation contract. Saying 18k you are just sticking a beacon on your head. Also, how are you protecting your NCB's? You need 4years+ for that don't you?

Direct Line!!

www.directline.co.uk - Obviously very good, prefer Fords to Vauxhalls.

www.tesco.co.uk - Very good

My understanding was that NCB would be lost anyway if the driver under 21 has an accident. How old are you?

Nothing! It's only an estimate.

Be careful about the policy wording - some may not like it if they suspect you to be the main driver. That said given the quotes you're getting they are anyway.

Really? Didn't know that! I guess it makes no odds to me nowadays though.

In my experience you will find it hard to get quotes on the web with a driver under 21. I have just turned 21.

Try these smaller independent insurance companies, my GF has been with a local totally unrecognised company, they were cheaper.

Hugh,

I went on my mums Fiesta (W reg) about 18 months ago, it was really cheap to add me but the NCB was lost if I crashed it.

May be different for each company, this was with Diamond which may explain it!

Dunno, sounds odd. Perhaps it's becasue you are a male and Diamond don't seem to like them. I guess they took away the Protection once you were added to the policy.

Hope you didn't have cause to find out.

Holy hot sweet jesus thats high insurance quotes! Dont some your boy racer mags advertise companies specialising in "hot hatch" insurance?

Oh and Scotty, I hate you because now I really love the Panther Black whereas I was gonna save myself £325 (or whatever it is) by getting Colorado Red.. :P Hmmm dealers wont throw in the metallic paint will they?

Where did I put that wonderbra....?

Im not 20 till the end of this month, but i got quotes for under £1200, this was with me as main driver, 10k miles, 2yrs licence, 2yrs ncb, pass plus, and both my parents as main drivers! Hope this helps!

Dont think you need a Wonderbra....make them sweat, Jan is quiet (so they tell me), my dealer rung me several times sounding desperate. I did tell him i would use their finance though! O, the fun we have.

I had a test drive in a performance blue ST today!

It was brilliant, everything I was expecting. The car gripped very well on the wet roads and you could get very good speed out of the corners. I took it on the motorway, country lanes and into the town and it was very good at all of them. The engine was slighty loud on the motorway but was nowhere near as bad as some early reviews were suggesting. You sit quite highly in the car as well but if you don't mind this its fine (i'm 6ft 4in so I don't have a choice!)

Seriously, if you are considering getting this car it really does seem to have been worth the very long wait. Roll on march...
