Hey boys,

I am off to buy a 2007 ST tomorrow and and already looking to options for lowering it, as they look silly standard.

My confusion is that, it seems there are a lot of options out there for the lowering of non ST variants but not the ST.

I have seen people state they have lowered there ST's up to 45-50mm and they look spot on, but the only reference I can find to this kind of spring are for non ST Fiestas... like these supersports

http://www.venommotorsport.com/product_details.php?id=42775&manufacturer=Supersport&category=Suspension

My concern is, that I have read the STs come 10mm lower than base spec fiestas already, and if I go and use a 50mm drop its going to mess all kinds of things up on the car.

Bottom line is, what is the lowest SPRING not coilover you can get for the ST's and could somene please provide a part number would be great. Pics of yor lowere STs with descriptions of the springs would be awesome.

I am from NZ and will need to import these at a pretty extreme cost, so its important I get it right.

Thanks Lads,

T

This is mine lowered *some* mm on Eibach springs. They're Ford approved which is the reason why I chose them. No scraping, clearance issues or anything. Some say they're -35mm, some say they're -20mm. I think -35mm is correct.

I used eibachs 35s, they are very good and dont ruin the ride. Using smaller 16" wheels would help with overall height as well.
Heres my old ST on the -35s

Just very very harsh ride imo. The eibachs are a very good compromise

The cheaper the springs the worse the ride. I had GMax on my old Fiesta - never again. The Eibach's promote decent handling with decent ride quality happy

the problem with the spax was there were too soft, when you hit bumps you hit the bump stops all the time especially when you had anyone sitting in the dack

the eibachs are the perfect combination of hard spring and lower than standard, the ride is harder but nowhere near as crashy as the spax and improves the handling, whereas i thought the spax made it worse and i was using them both on track

Yep, I had Spax and loved them, the eibachs are definitely a bit harder without compromising ride comfort and worth the extra monies imo.

stick with the ford recommened eibach springs, any lower and your struts will bottom out all the time on bad roads. Otherwise go for full suspension kits like Bilstein B12 etc.

No, Spax aren't crap, lower than the Eibachs and Ford recognise them, I'd go that way

Ford don't recognise Spax, they're aftermarket. The only lowering spring kit Ford recognise that don't affect the warranty are the Eibach.

Spax aren't crap though, they're just different.

I rate Eibach as they're the ones I use... I'm happy with the height, ride quality, and having thrown the ST round Lydden Hill, Castle Combe, and the Nurburgring I'm totally satisfied with how they handle on track too.

to be honest though who still has a warranty on their mk6 fiesta ST nowadays? ive been eyeing up the fk ak street coilovers but again I don't want too crashy ride for daily drives, so its either new shocks and spax springs or the FK coilovers .. smirk

Oh yes, I know, but at least you know they are approved to work on the standard shocks. GMax springs on my old MK5 Fiesta knackered the shocks within 8 weeks.

Id happily splash out for coil overs, only here New Zealand, you have to certify them, which is a bulls**t process of having some guy looking at your installation to say it's legit, while charging you $500 to do so.

Coming from a background of modifying cars and losing money, especially on my last MK2 Golf project I bought the Fiesta trying to be sensible... which is slowly starting to lose traction haha.

Other thing is, some of the pics I have seen with the 35mm Eibachs look much lower than others... again, living in NZ it costs a lot to get this stuff here, so I have to be careful not to get the wrong choice and have to pay through the nose to rectify it again...

Decisions, decisions, I appreciate all input though!

Most people who have lowered their cars using springs use Eibach. Almost all people rate them highly. And because it doesn't (or didn't) void the Ford warranty you know that they are not going to cause no damage to anything else.

Eibach are the way forward in my eyes thumbs

Well... from what I have seen Im looking at $240ish NZD for spax or $320ish NZD for Eibachs...

Shipping will cost at least another $260NZD from the UK to NZ, so minimum $500 NZD.

It so happens I have a mate returning to the UK for 2 weeks next week and hes offered to bring a set of springs back for me, which may make this much a cheaper exercise.

Being so isolated, shipping to NZ is just expensive upset

Lads,

Its crunch time and with all your advice I now need to make a decision.

Prior to deciding on either the Spax or Eibach pro kit can someone please confirm for me the difference between the pro kit and Eibach extra lows?

I have read the Extra Lows drop the ST by a real life 35mm based on stock ST height, not non ST height like the Pro Kit? Is this true or bollox?

From my research, it seems this kit is/ was exclusive to rude racing, though pumaspeed claim to sell an ST 35mm kit also... Is this the same kit?

If this is true, the extra low Eibachs will be the way I go. These are the ones linked on the previous page by Rude Racing?

thanks again boys

I've looked at photos of cars on extra lows and photos of cars on normal eibach and k honestly can't see a difference.

eibach is tried and trusted by many people but spax are a close second generally

Thanks for all the input boys.

TBH the 30mm eibachs just don't look low enough to me. Iv noticed some of the pics with eibachs look lower and this must be why... Because some are the extra lows.

I think the spax look perfect but with the choice to purchase the fiesta as a 'sensible' car instead of every other car I have owned, I think Id prefer the tried and tested Eibachs to avoid ruining the ride or the ability to have people in the back seat.

can anyone please confirm that the extra lows are no longer exclusive to rude racing? Pumaspeed has not replied to my queries in regards to their ST specific 35mm springs, and I also see Goode stocks them as well... Are these the extra lows?

Seems a few other people claim to have the Eibach extra lows now bud, based on my research around here...

How useless are your English retailers... emailed both Puma speed and Graham Goode with no replay upset

Managed to get in touch with Graham Goode and may even be able to have the VAT dropped so I don't get charged Tax twice at customs on import which would be great.

Now need to sus some 20mm spacers... though 40GBP to ship my 30GBP spacers? That gets on my goat ha.
