Hi

Have just bought a brand new ST and Im having problems with the alarm system. When I press the lock button on the key fob the car locks OK. But about 20secs later the alarm sounds and will not go off unless it is unlocked again!

This is driving me mad, has anyone else had the same probs? Even if I leave it unlocked the ST will self-lock itself as owners will know, and then the alarm goes off!

I cant win!! Anybody got any ideas? I will be taking it back to the dealers if it continues.

Will

Sounds like you have one of the faulty alarms that has.....you need to go backto the dealer as it needs a new bit......the word is its a known fault

Sounds like something isn't closing properley. You are pressing the lock button on the fob twice, aren't you? Mine goes off occasionally if one of the doors has not completley closed. The dealership told me that because it is such a sensitive alarm system that you may need to close the doors a little bit harder than you would normally, not slamming them just closing them firmly. I had a KA convertable as a courtesey car for a while and that had the same problem. You really had to slam the roof cover down other wise the alarm would go off, its something to do with the pressure pads inside the doors, boot and bonnet. Maybe one of the doors needs adjusting slightly????

I figured it may be something to with the sensors on the doors and boot. Once I opened all the doors and bonnet and closed them and it stopped.

I used to press the lock button twice but then I read the manual and it says you only have to press it once to alarm it.

But the problem comes and goes so I think it may be to do with new seals on the alarm.

Will wait and see, it hasn't happened today!

When you press the lock button only once, you only activate the door opening alrams and not the interior sensors. Also, not pressing it twice doesnt activate the deadlocking, so someone could just break a window and use the interior door handle to open the car. You should always lock the car by pressing the button twice.
I always find alarms on cars a waste of time anyway. No one takes any notice of them anymore and in the STs case, you cant even here it!
Take it to the dealer if it carries on doing it.

Its a known fault with PHASE TWO ST's *hehehehe*

The alarm sensors on some of the cars are a bit "tempramental". I've heard that people have had the GEM modules replaced and its solved it.
