Will it affect the handling in a bad way????....

I really think the ST sits waaaaaay to high so I might have to buy a set of coilovers....

Yuck to coilovers! Just get a nice set of lowering springs.

Lowering it will mean all the usual things of you running the risk of ruining the braking system, the airbag system , throwing a wheel bearing, increased tyre wear and the tyres maybe touching the bodywork.

The thing is they will of spent (and must've considering how late to market the car is!) ages honing the roadholding. With a set of springs you run the risk of taking away the cars stability and 'predictableness'.

That said, it might massively improve the roadholding, only sacrificing comfort. At this stage there is no way of knowing as no one will of tried it.

I've always avoided lowering my cars for the reasons Hugh gives. Perhaps 15 years ago it would be a good idea, but these days modern chassis are all to do with the precision of the suspension geometry. Change the height and all the angles change and risk mucking up the handling.

Basically, wait for someone else to try it first!

I`m affraid to use springs again..... I`ve got PI springs on my ZS at the moment and after 1 year one of the dampers is f*ck*d already.... I`ve heard Eibach are the best ones for a Mk6 but since they`re ford approved.... does that mean that you still have them dampers under their warranty???....

Warrenty still exists as long as the dealers fit them and have a stamp, but becuase I have got a company which can do all service work AND keep the warrenty, its ok.

Just to imform you all, you dont have to get Ford to service your cars just to keep the warrenty, as long as you get a genuine stamp from a recognised company, your ok.

My Fiesta on Eibach springs are under the 'Noobs' part of the forum. Have a look. It sits quite low, especially after they settled in...

I do agree that the ST is way too high, to look sleak. But lowering it has its tradeoffs of course.

ford always uses eibach for his after market lowering, same for the focus Duval here in belgium. but if you want to go to really good stuf you have to buy a KW set (springs and dampers) and they are adjustable in height and hardness. gonna get me a set of those to lower my st safe. the springs i now have has busted my right front bearing. so, to hell with those lousy springs. only good materials in my car from now!
