Standard cat will be a little restrictive. If you want to be legal you will get the same gains from a sports cat but they make slightly less noise. I love a decat but they are illegal but i took the risk.

Im not too worried about the legality of it, just wondering about power gains. Does it make that much noise in the car compared to the standard cat?

I've got standard manifold and flexi, milltek decat, milltek non-resonated centre, and milltek back box.

Sounds incredible.

Inside the car, but stripped out:

With the cat on, it's a lot quieter in the car and I lost the crackle on overrun.

Milltek isnt too bad tbh, but my old piper with a decat was booming through the car.
You will probably get 2-3 hp more with decat as a guess, you would probably need a remap to get the most out of it. N/A cars need a little back pressure from the exhaust so if your chasing power the sports cat will be better.

I was looking to remap on just after getting the decat, at the moment looking at the bluefin stage 2, as it will remove the engine light aswell.

I would get a sports cat, as it would save alot of hassle come MOT time but the decat is so much cheaper

My mate works at a garage, and while they dont do MOTs he knows some people who he thinks would pass a decat, so it's not a huge concern for me really.

Hopefully i can get a decat pipe cheap at FF

Out of curiosity, is there anyway to get away with a decat, without having to get a custom tune to get the light to go off?

Can you remount the sensor on the decat pipe to avoid this?

You can get sleeves that mount the sensor slightly further away from the pipe itself, people report mixed success with them though.
