I though people starting destroying gear boxes when they had the lsd fitted because of the plastic case bearings and they couldn't take the power Any more on this, I'm intrigued..? This is true, standard bearings are plastic cased. Normally people will upgrade to a steel caged item when fitting an LSD, or rebuilding a box. They should fit them, that is......

Ah right, the quote I had included the diff bearings. £80 for both, I assume they are ones with metallic cages.

Yeah I'll be getting the oil changed when I get the clutch done. Milage is about 75k. Keep changing my mind on wether or not to get the diff Hopefully tuning garages will fit uprated bearings. No reason to get ford ones, good bearing manufacturers will make them to the right size and spec, and probably cost no more than the ford ones.

Booked in at JamSport for clutch n diff!! I mentioned the bearings failing, he said they fit genuine ford bearings, but ford now make them with a metal cage instead of plastic. Gearbox oil change? I've always left it unless it needed a top up. What grading of oil do you use? Totally off topic sorry.. Standard gearbox oil is 75/90 semi-synthetic (for topping up), although fully synthetic is probably better if you're doing an oil change.

Didn't know they'd moved. Website is showing the same place I went to last time, on that industrial estate with a knackered road. https://goo.gl/maps/asLvw
