Hi all, today I had changed a fuse on my fiesta, F22 a 7.5 amp, easy five minute job, started it then it cut out within seconds of the engine running!
Tried it a second time and it wouldn't start at all with only the oil pressure light coming on! Checked all the fuses, all fine, all the relays are good too, battery was only replaced a few weeks ago and it's holding 12v, the fuel cut off switch hasn't deployed, fuel pressure kicks in when I turn the key over that's all that's happening with the car now, it's just sitting on the road wanting to be driven in the sunshine!
Anyone ever had this issue or know how to resolve it?

Cheers Scott!

Was there any noise at all when you crank the key all the way round?
Just an idea but maybe a wire from the ignition has broke or it has a poor earth, not saying strip it all apart though lol

Which is the f22 fuse? It obviously has a fault to blow the 1st fuse

Is the engine turning over?
Oil pressure light always comes on prior to starting so that's not neccessarily a problem.
Try checking the battery terminals are clean and tight if it's recently been changed.
Before I had mine remapped I used to regularly have to press the throttle pedal while starting to get it to start up.

How long have you owned the car?

Throttle shouldn't make any difference? Should have auto choke on it

Only sound comes from the fuel pump kicking in when i try turn it over
The fuse was for the passenger side side light and tail light, checked the wires going to the light units and they're good
When i changed the battery the other week i gave the battery leads a clean and sprayed them with battery terminal protector, owned the car for three years in april or may, cars sitting at 52k just done a major service to it 4k ago, went around the engine bay and checked my plugs and leads about half an hour ago and everythings sound!
Pressing the throttle makes no difference the car physically fails to turn over:(

Reet, so if it's not even turning over then the starter motor is not kicking in for some reason.

Yeah quite possibly dude i'll go out and check out the wiring to it! Beginning to think it might be an altenator issue, god damn

Starter solenoid might of gone but that doesn't explain why it cut out in the first place

Went out and checked the starter this moening, no wires loose, everything seems to be fine, tried to get a look at the altenator but i can't get a good look at the wires round the back of it, really hope i don't end up having to send it to ford!

This may sound silly, but try it ... Get a RUBBER Mallet, lie under the near side rear of the car, get another person to turn the ignition over while you WACK the underside of the fuel tank with the Mallet.

This happened to me once, it turned out to be a stuck fuel pump which is situated on top of the fuel tank ... Give it a go wink
