Engine Management light again today, car has been totaly fine since new battery thought that was the end of the matter, just started up this morning (overnight heavy rain) and straight into limp mode, bloody awful driving it to garage, only 1.5 miles away but scraped there. I'll probably take the old throttle body down later for them to try. They will see what the codes are but highly likely will point to TB and ECU.

Thats annoying bud, especially considering how well you look after the car!

Yep.
ford are now looking the wiring between TB and PCM, Ford Technical have confirmed they have seen problems with wiring or TB can burn the PCM out, I would guess that means the PCM simply decides to protect the car and stick it in limp mode, because otherwise I would assume I would have lots of regular problems. Tommorrow if no issues found probably stick my 57mm TB back on see what happens and then hopefully it will start up proper. Faults Codes again point at TB and PCM.

Seems a bit unusual with how intermittent it is, if it was more common then it would be easier to solve smirk

Hi,

I used to have an issue like this with a Golf where it would not fire on all cylinders when it was damp. It turned out to be the Coil Packs.

Could it be something along those lines?

certainly when driving on limp mode feels like only firing on one cylinder ! Error codes do say TB and PCM, they are currently checking wiring from TB to PCM, certainly was wet last night lots of rain, but first around it was dry. Car was fine Saturday, didn't use it sunday, then this morning straight onto engine light. Coil Pack is a regular failure though on these, I will raise it with them.

You can check coil packs by measuring resistance can't you?
It may just be a small nick in a wire somewhere that's bridging to earth. It's all it takes but can take an age to find. Hopefully ford's give it a proper good look!

today they have done a wiring check has some strange name "pull and shake test" or something similar, no faults found, the PCM has not been touched or unplugged. Battery was disconnected and reconnected and the error codes both did not reset (TB and PCM codes). My original 57mm TB was fitted and the codes cleared immediately.
Awaiting to hear from mountune that the car can be used with the original 57mm without any long term issues, then I will take the car back and see how it goes. Ford think if was any PCM issues then I would be having regular problems, leaning towards a fault with the 60mm TB which was part of the MR200 upgrade.

no had the MR200 kit more than 3 years now, so would only have been 12months warranty of the parts fitted at the time. Just hope this is the fix, don't minding paying for another 60mm will be cheaper than a new PCM and somehow getting the car to Essex for all MR200 updates.

latest, Ford have had a good chat with MT today and they are sending me a 60mm TB up and also replacing the connector on the TB wiring loom.
