Unfortunately it may be best in terms of money upset
You'll get decent money for the MR200 parts but it's hassle and a real shame

the way you have looked after that car mate I would just stick with it,if it cost a £1000 then take it on the chin and as above the mountune parts are probably worth more then the car anyway.

and why does the MK7 or my hire car spec have an arm rest just behind the gear stick, the gear change is awesome, really short and nice and firm but every time my elbow smacks into the back of the arm rest ?

Finding it really quick low down pulls well in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, sounds like a focus ST, does it have some sound imposer jobbie ? Really enjoying the ickle boost it has

Not good, but sounds like you might be getting to the bottom of it, finally

Any other cars had similar problems or is this a one-off? Have mountune accepted responsibility for it?

MR200 is a limited kit, only about 30 odd of us and if you include all the MP165 and MP185 (and include all Focus and RS kits) there must be several hundred conversions now, none of which have this issue. I am only aware of one RS with a similar issue.
The only connection with Mountune could be that the engine management system has just had enough of the extra load, this is highly unlikely.
Mountune are aware but even they think it is a voltage issue however see what they say, Ford do think it is the engine management, potentially just one tiny circuit not working properly, cold, damp, dried out circuit.

I thought they found it was water in the PCM, potentially

Turns out that Mountune do not open up the PCM's for updates, but could still be ingress or random failure.
