Im putting my ST in for Ford's to check the alarm in the next few weeks, I told the guy that my alarm was playing up and that my motor was pre Oct 2006 - therefore needing a new GEM module and he said "well, we don't know for sure yet, I will have to look at it"

I want it sorted before the summer as with mine I noticed after using it in the heat and using air-con it would not shut up!

I was down the beach with my mate and we were stood around for about 1hr for it to shut up - the alarm would not stop every time I locked it. By the time it stopped it was cloudy and the rain was on its way.

Not happy.

Picked mine up on the 3rd of this month, New.

In the first week, i have had the hazards flashing in the morning 'once'.

And when i have walked up to the car and pressed the unlock on the key fob the car omitted a continuous bleep, outside and inside, until i either press the fob once more or turn the ignition on. This happened twice. Since that week nothing has happened, and all has been ok.

I have booked it in to the garage for the 27th & 28th for them to check it.

Reading the probs on this, being so close to the Easter Event, do you think i should cancel and re-book? Plus, my passenger seat tilt mechanism is bust! .

Picked mine up yesterday... This morning I unlocked it with the remote... bleep bleep bleep etc, until I locked/unlocked it again. I guess I may have this GEM thing also. I'll keep an eye on it.

Also... when I lock/unlock the car, should my hazzards flash or not? All my other cars have flashed. This doesn't do anything so if you get out and start to walk away while pressing the button, it is impossible to tell if it locked or not without going back to the car to check as you get no hazzard signal.

Andy.

The hazards should definitely flash when you lock and unlock it.

lol... just went out to check, and the alarm went off again when I unlocked it. Hazards weren't doing anything earlier... but since the alarm just went off a minute ago, they do now seem to be flashing when I deadlock or open.. mental.

I'm sure Fordie or someone had that problem with the hazards not going off and it was all sorted out.. Hmmm... Lemmie look

There's a Technical Service Bulletin (T.S.B) about this issue now.
Fix requires a new GEM and should fix the Hazards lights not Flashing issue as well.
It's not a "recall" issue as it's not safety critical. Also they will only change the part if you actually complain about it, i.e they won't do it at your first service by default.

It's booked in for them to investigate on Monday morning. I asked if they could order up the unit and just book me in when it arrived but the want to diagnose it themselves before ordering.

It's done it 5 times today now... didn't happen at all yesterday. Thankfully, the alarm isn't particularly loud.

Hope this isn't a sign of how the rest of ownership is going to be, as I really don't want to be going back and forward to the dealer.
