Well, my Daughter had her first driving lesson Yesterday afternoon happy

The instructor is a family member who has been doing it for 8 years with a 98% pass rate.

When I got home from work I couldn't stop looking out of the front window waiting for them to pull up rolleyes

They pulled up and she walked in the house, when I asked how she got on she said that she loved it and that she never stalled the car once w00t

The next thing she said was this ..... "So are you getting me a car now ?" shock rolleyes lol

Actually, when she gets to grips with the gears, Yes she will. I want her to know the 'tricks of the trade'. Not looking forward for insurance costs, upset but I need her to know and be aware of everything. thumbs

Should be ok, I guess the turning circle might be a bit awkward for a new driver

All part of driving experience Jimmy. She is learning in a 65reg Fez, once she is used to that I will take her out to experience more power with more road responsibility thumbs

Also can't believe she is now old enough to,drive!!! Time flys!!! I think you should let her have the Mk6 st when she pass then buy yourself something more sensible Kev snigger ....... Crazy but my 1st car in 1989 was a Mk1 XR2 though I did have to save up for it myself and pay the insurance costs

Car insurance for younguns is a nightmare at the moment. Expect a 17 year old on an ST150 to be £5k+

Cannot believe she's 17 already Kev! Seriously we need to catch up.

It must be scary the thought of her being on the road! I did the Pass Plus if that's what your going to put her through? Unless you mean the Advanced Driving Course... not sure this would make much difference to a 17/18 year old though now days.

If she asks you for a car again... tell her to go to work and earn one!

She went out this Monday for another lesson and went through all of the gears happy I would love to be in the car with her but I know I would lose my rag at something rolleyes

On the radio this morning there was an advert of a new car with free insurance for 18+ year old drivers but can't remember what car it was hmm

On as a named driver on one of those policies where the named driver can build up NCB might be a good way to go

Direct Line used to and quite possibly still do. I was a named driver for a few years when they first brought it out so got lucky as I managed to start off with a few years no claims.
Sure there's others as well... think the AA do
